# Accenture CEO Julie Sweet bought $3.0 million of stock five days after a co-CEO sold $1.4 million

> Julie Sweet put $3.0 million of her own money into Accenture on the open market on October 26, and director Paula Price bought alongside her, days after Asia Pacific co-CEO Ryoji Sekido sold. The purchases land three weeks before the fiscal first-quarter report that tests whether AI price cuts are reaching Accenture's revenue.

On October 26, Julie Sweet, chair and chief executive of [Accenture](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/accenture), bought 12,200 shares of the company she runs on the open market, in two tranches executed at prices from $244.59 to $246.54, about $3.0 million of her own money [1]. The same day, director Paula Price bought 800 shares at $249.81 [2]. [Both Form 4s reached the SEC this morning](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1467373/000148763026000022/0001487630-26-000022-index.htm), and neither is marked as being under a Rule 10b5-1 plan [1][2].

## The bet answers the argument that drove the stock down 59%

The purchases are the first insider reply to the thesis that has hammered IT-services shares all year: that AI agents automate the billable hours consultancies sell. Accenture was the market's test case. The stock fell from a 52-week high of $285.21 to $116.75, a 59% drawdown, on fears AI would cannibalize consulting revenue [3].

On October 1, [fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of $18.68 billion beat estimates](https://247wallst.com/investing/2026/10/02/accenture-lost-15-over-a-year-one-analyst-says-it-will-rise-30-on-ai-and-digital-transformation/), bookings hit a record $22.2 billion, and the stock rose about 16% in one session [3]. Management also reported lower pricing in many areas in the quarter, and The Inference reported on October 13 that AI is cutting Accenture's prices while acquisitions carry 2 to 2.5 points of its 2027 growth guidance ([/article/ai-is-cutting-accenture-s-prices-acquisitions-carry-2-to-2-5-points-of-its-2027-growth]) [3].

## The wrinkle: insiders disagree, and nobody bought the dip

The signals conflict. Five days before Sweet bought, Accenture's Asia Pacific co-CEO, [Ryoji Sekido](https://theinference.org/markets/people/ryoji-sekido), sold 5,844 shares for $1.43 million, cutting that direct holding by 83% to 1,194 shares [6]. Our October 23 piece covered that sale and the re-rating it punctuated ([/article/accenture-re-rated-from-9-8-to-18-6-times-earnings-as-its-asia-pacific-co-ceo-sold-1-4-million]) [6].

And this was not bottom-fishing: Sweet paid a weighted average near $246, after the stock had roughly doubled off its low, and [ACN closed at $235.16 on October 27](https://www.marketscreener.com/news/accenture-insider-bought-shares-worth-3-001-041-according-to-a-recent-sec-filing-ce785cd2dd8ff220), down 4.9% on the day and about 4% below her price [5]. That is already above the 27-analyst average target of $229.74 [5]. Same day, [Wells Fargo](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/wells-fargo) raised its target to $252 from $210 [5].

*Chart: **Accenture insiders moved $4.4 million of stock this month, in both directions** Bar chart of October 2026 Accenture insider transactions in dollars: Julie Sweet bought about $3.0 million, Paula Price bought about $200,000, and Ryoji Sekido sold about $1.43 million.*

## What the filings actually establish

Rule 10b5-1 plans are pre-scheduled trading programs; a discretionary open-market purchase is the one insider signal that costs the insider money if the call is wrong [1]. Sweet's directly held shares rose from 36,710 to 48,910, a third more [1]. Price's stake rose 9% to 9,361 [2]. Neither figure is large next to a company Accenture's size, but the direction is unambiguous, and it came with no earnings report due until December 17 [5].

## What settles it is the quarter, not the buying

The bear case still has to be beaten on the numbers: growth guided at 3% to 6% for fiscal 2027 with acquisitions carrying 2 to 2.5 points of it [3], and management's [fiscal first-quarter revenue guide of $18.95 billion to $19.6 billion](https://finance.yahoo.com/technology/ai/articles/ai-price-cuts-break-accenture-183050311.html) [4]. If fiscal first-quarter revenue comes in above the $18.95 billion floor, price cuts have not yet reached sales; below it, they have [4]. Watch the December 17 print [5].

## Takeaway

Accenture's chief executive spent $3.0 million of her own money on the open market, with a director buying alongside her, five days after a co-CEO sold: the insider split points to the December 17 fiscal first-quarter print, where revenue above the $18.95 billion guide floor decides whether AI price cuts are reaching sales.
