# After eight years of suing Veeva, IQVIA makes it the enterprise standard

> IQVIA has standardized Veeva's trial-operations software 14 months after settling eight years of litigation, with no price and no scope disclosed. Veeva's Boston summit this week and its November 5 investor day decide what the concession books.

## Eight years in court, then an enterprise standard

On October 13, 2026, [IQVIA](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/iqvia) (NYSE: IQV), the clinical research business with roughly 94,000 employees in more than 100 countries, [named four Veeva applications, CTMS for trial management, eTMF for trial documents, Study Startup and Site Connect, enterprise standard across its clinical development studies](https://www.veeva.com/resources/iqvia-selects-veeva-clinical-operations-applications/) [1]. The buyer's quote came from Richard Staub, president of Research and Development Solutions at IQVIA. His company spent 2017 to 2025 suing [Veeva](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/veeva-systems), until [an August 2025 settlement between the two former rivals dismissed all claims and counterclaims](https://www.veeva.com/resources/iqvia-and-veeva-announce-long-term-clinical-and-commercial-partnerships-and-resolution-of-all-disputes/) with no damages paid by either side [2][3][4]. The company that fought Veeva in court for eight years now runs its trial operations on it.

## The border runs through data capture

What IQVIA did not standardize matters as much. Customers, Staub said, retain "the flexibility to choose the EDC, RTSM, and eCOA technologies and solutions that best meet their needs, including IQVIA's innovative capabilities": electronic data capture, randomization and trial supply, and patient outcome reporting, the layer where IQVIA still sells rivals to Veeva [1][5]. [Neither company disclosed a price, a deployment timeline, or whether](https://www.clinicaltrialvanguard.com/news/iqvia-selects-veeva-clinical-operations-applications-enterprise-standard/) "enterprise standard" covers IQVIA's existing book of trials or only new studies [2][5].

## The revenue machine underneath

Veeva (NYSE: VEEV), with more than 1,500 customers, booked $927.96 million of revenue in the quarter ended July 31, 2026, up 17.6% year over year, with [subscription revenue of $766.76 million, up 16.3%](https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/veev-expands-iqvia-partnership-with-clinical-operations-software-suite/ar-AA2eeYf3) [1][6]. Operating income climbed 40.4% to $275.02 million, helped by a year-ago quarter that carried litigation settlement charges [6]. Revenue has risen every quarter through the fight, the settlement and the deal [8].

## A flat stock, a $75 spread in targets

VEEV traded flat the day after the announcement and is up 35.1% this year against the S&P 500's 13.8%, on a $47.9 billion market value [5]. [Barclays raised its target to $360 on October 19, 2026](https://www.streetinsider.com/Analyst+PT+Change/Veeva+Systems+%28VEEV%29+PT+Raised+to+%24360+at+Barclays/27199730.html), [Oppenheimer held $325 on October 15](https://www.ad-hoc-news.de/boerse/news/nebenwerte/veeva-sets-november-5-investor-day-oppenheimer-keeps-usd-325-target-for-veeva-systems-stock/70353167), and the consensus stood at $284.88 on October 10 [7][6]. The spread between them is the disagreement over what IQVIA's concession is worth.

## Boston answers scope, November 5 prices it

Both companies appear at Veeva's R&D and Quality Summit in Boston on October 20 and 21, 2026, the first venue where the scope question can surface [1][2]. Veeva's virtual investor day follows on November 5, covering its industry cloud of applications, agents, data and consulting [6]. The number to watch: whether IQVIA standardization appears in bookings guidance.

## Takeaway

The rival that spent eight years suing Veeva now runs its trial operations on Veeva's software; Boston this week and the November 5 investor day decide what the concession books.
