# Apple's badge for DuPont spinoff Qnity arrives the same week Apple cuts iPhone 18 Pro orders by at least 15%

> Apple named the DuPont spinoff an American Manufacturing Program partner for iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro, days after telling suppliers to cut October iPhone 18 Pro orders by at least 15 percent. Qnity's own split between AI fab materials and consumer interconnects shows which side of that relationship pays.

[Apple](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/apple) put [Qnity Electronics](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/qnity-electronics) on its [American Manufacturing Program list today as a Delaware supplier](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20261020418656/en) of critical materials for iPhone Duo, Apple's new standard-model phone, and the iPhone 18 Pro [1]. The same Apple, per [our earlier reporting on the iPhone supply chain](https://theinference.org/article/lg-innotek-fell-16-in-a-day-as-profit-forecasts-collapsed-its-ai-parts-rescue-starts-in-2027), has asked vendors to cut October iPhone 18 Pro component orders by at least 15 percent [5]. Both facts land on the same company in one week, and Qnity's accounts show which one moves the money.

## The badge is the smaller half of the story

Only 12.4 percent of Qnity's sales come from the United States, a third come from China, and Asia/Pacific is its largest region at 45.8 percent [4]. A domestic-sourcing ribbon does not change that revenue mix. What it does is mark Qnity as a qualified iPhone supplier, and qualification is the moat in materials: [replacing an approved chemical or pad requires costly revalidation of the whole process](https://cliffmar.tech/qnity-electronics-2026-outlook/) [3].

*Chart: **Most of Qnity's sales are outside the United States, where Apple's badge points** Pie chart of Qnity Electronics net sales by region: Asia/Pacific 45.8 percent, China 33 percent, United States 12.4 percent, Europe/Middle East/Africa 8 percent, Americas 0.8 percent, highlighting Asia/Pacific and China.*

## Two halves of the company, two demand curves

Semiconductor Technologies, the slurries, polishing pads and cleaning chemicals consumed as chips are made and stacked, did $744 million of sales in the June quarter [3]. Interconnect Solutions, the circuit-side materials that sell into phones and consumer electronics, grew 30 percent to $685 million [3]. Chief executive Jon Kemp's phrase for the tailwind is the "power of shrink and stack": more complex, stacked chips consume more material per device [6]. That physics holds for AI fabs. It is thinning for phones.

*Chart: **Revenue has grown for six straight quarters and hit a record $1.43 billion in June** Line chart of Qnity Electronics quarterly revenue from the first quarter of 2024 to the June 2026 quarter, rising from $0.98 billion to $1.43 billion, with the June 2026 quarter highlighted.*

*Qnity Electronics quarterly revenue, from its SEC filings [7]. The June 2026 quarter grew 22.1 percent year over year. [7]*

Management drew the line itself. It raised full-year 2026 guidance to $5.55–5.65 billion of sales and $4.40–4.60 of adjusted earnings per share [3], but interim CFO Michael Goss guided the September quarter to low-single-digit sequential growth, and Kemp blamed seasonal consumer electronics demand and customers working down inventory [3]. The interconnect half is the half being guided down, and Apple's order cuts point the same direction.

## The market has not picked a side yet

The stock [closed October 16 at $115.37](https://www.ad-hoc-news.de/boerse/news/nebenwerte/qnity-electronics-stock-fell-3-54-percent-to-usd-115-37-on-october-16/70350143), up 41.3 percent this year but about 35 percent off its high, at roughly 24 times forward earnings against about 33 for rival materials maker [Entegris](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/entegris) [2][3]. The [average of ten analyst targets](https://www.marketscreener.com/news/rbc-cuts-price-target-on-qnity-electronics-to-160-from-189-keeps-outperform-rating-ce785dd3dd8ff124) sits at $174.60, with RBC trimming to $160 while keeping Outperform [4]. The next earnings call on November 4 will show whether AI fab consumption carries the consumer-electronics softness, or whether a badge from Cupertino is the quarter's best news [2]. Watch the fab line, not the iPhone line.

*Chart: **The stock sits 34 percent below the average analyst target** Column chart comparing Qnity Electronics' October 16 close of $115.37 with RBC's $160 price target and the $174.60 average of ten analyst targets.*

*Qnity Electronics closed October 16 at $115.37 [2], against RBC's trimmed $160 target and the $174.60 average of ten analyst targets [4]. [2][4]*

## Takeaway

Apple's badge makes Qnity a qualified iPhone supplier, but the money is in AI fab materials, not consumer interconnects; the November 4 earnings call shows whether fab consumption carries the consumer softness.
