# Astera Labs' $584.9 million quarter ran 53% through one customer, up from 23% a year earlier

> Q3 revenue of $584.9 million beat estimates and the Q4 guide cleared the bar the AI selloff set. The 10-Q filed the next morning shows more than half that revenue ran through a single customer.

[Astera Labs](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/astera-labs) (Nasdaq: ALAB), which sells the switches, retimers and memory chips that move data between GPUs, posted [third-quarter revenue of $584.9 million](https://asteralabs.gcs-web.com/news-releases/news-release-details/astera-labs-reports-third-quarter-2026-financial-results), up 49% sequentially and 154% from a year earlier, ahead of the $550.8 million consensus [1][2]. The fourth-quarter guide of $730 million to $750 million cleared the bar the October selloff set: [analysts had calculated that holding the year's $1.91 billion estimate needed $648 million to $668 million](https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/astera-labs-fell-harder-market-125201446.html) [3].

Scorpio, the fabric-switch family that shuttles data between accelerators, became the largest product line and crossed a $1 billion annualized run rate [1][6]. Market value after the call: $39.8 billion, about 25 times trailing revenue of $1.56 billion [4][5].

## One rack, $100,000 of Astera inside

President [Sanjay Gajendra](https://theinference.org/markets/people/sanjay-gajendra) told analysts the new Orion rack design carries [about $100,000 of Astera content in a single 80-GPU rack](https://www.bullished.co/astera-labs-pitches-a-rack-with-about-100-000-of-its-content-plans-to-double-chip-content-bf9aca44/): silicon on baseboards, COSMOS management software monetized for the first time, and royalties from OEM and ODM partners, the original-equipment and original-design manufacturers that build and sell the racks [4][6].

Chief executive [Jitendra Mohan](https://theinference.org/markets/people/jitendra-mohan) said content already exceeds $1,000 per accelerator, with next-generation switching adding $1,000 more, a path to doubling content every accelerator generation [4][6]. Racks reach partners in the first quarter of 2027; Orion revenue detail comes only on the next call [1][4].

*Chart: **Eight quarters took Astera revenue from $159 million to a guided $740 million** Column chart of Astera Labs quarterly revenue from Q1 2025 to a guided Q4 2026, rising from $159 million to a $740 million guide midpoint.*

*Quarterly revenue, USD millions. Q4 '26E is the midpoint of company guidance of $730 million to $750 million; earlier quarters from SEC filings. Reference line is the top of the Q4 range analysts said was needed to hold 2026 consensus. [1][3][5][8]*

## The 53% customer, and a margin half made of accounting

[The 10-Q filed November 4](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1736297/000173629726000045/alab-20260930.htm) shows Customer A at 53% of the quarter's revenue, up from 23% a year earlier, and 58% of receivables; the filing cautions such customers can be manufacturing partners buying on behalf of end customers rather than end buyers themselves [7]. Gross margin slid from 76.2% a year ago to 72.3%, held at about 72% in the guide [1].

About two points of that margin each quarter is the warrant Astera gave [Amazon](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/amazon) under a commercial agreement: accounting books its rising value, $18.1 million in Q3, as a discount against revenue, none of it cash [3][7]. The rest of the slide is lower-margin switch hardware [3]. Inventory has more than tripled since December to $200.9 million, $160.7 million of it work in progress; what that stock is committed against, the filing does not say, and the build suggests production running ahead of confirmed orders [7].

*Chart: **Gross margin has slid five points since late 2024** Line chart of Astera Labs gross margin by quarter, falling from 77.7% in Q3 2024 to 72.3% in Q3 2026, with the Q4 2026 guide at about 72%.*

*GAAP gross margin, percent of revenue, by quarter. Q3 '24 through Q2 '26 computed from SEC filings; Q3 '26 reported and the Q4 '26E guide of about 72% given in the company's November 3, 2026 press release. [1][9]*

## Insider selling met a one-name demand base

The Inference [reported the insider selling](https://theinference.org/article/astera-labs-guided-revenue-up-40-insiders-sold-486-million-and-bought-nothing) on October 23; the 10-Q now shows the demand side of that trade is one name [7]. The bull case is real: non-GAAP operating margin expanded to 44.7% and operating cash flow hit a record $179.2 million [1][6].

## What converts, and when

Optical products sample this quarter and reach revenue in the second half of 2027, custom silicon in 2028, the timing The Inference [flagged on November 1](https://theinference.org/article/astera-labs-showed-a-50-meter-optical-link-and-dated-its-optics-for-early-2027-before-november-3-earnings) [6]. Astera sells the connectivity layer every AI rack buys, and one customer currently accounts for most of it; whether the $100,000 rack math widens that base is the number to demand on the next call [4][6].

## Takeaway

Astera Labs beat and guided past the selloff's bar, but its 10-Q shows 53% of revenue through one customer, gross margin down five points from its 2024 peak, and inventory tripled since December.
