# Axon's Cherokee County customers vote November 3 on a $37.3 million renewal priced 2.6 times today's bill

> Cherokee County votes Nov. 3 on a 10-year, $37.3 million Axon bundle that starts at 2.6 times its current bill, priced from a quote that expired Oct. 25. Axon reports Nov. 5 with consensus revenue up 31%, and the renewal math behind that number is now being decided in public.

Cherokee County, Georgia votes Nov. 3 on a [10-year, $37.3 million contract](https://cherokeeintel.com/cherokee-county-axon-contract-37-million/) that folds the twelve [Axon](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/axon) agreements behind its sheriff's office into one [1]. The office pays Axon about $1.3 million a year today; the new deal starts at 2.6 times that, on a quote that expired Oct [1]. 25 after two postponed votes [1]. Axon reports earnings Nov. 5, with [consensus revenue up 31%](https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/axon-enterprise-axon-registers-bigger-205002935.html) [2]. The dates belong to one story: Axon's growth now arrives as renewal bills, and this week the customers vote on them in public.

## The increase is an AI subscription, itemized

The big lines in the quote are not cameras. An "AI Era" license, Axon's bundle of its current and future AI tools sold per user at a fixed annual cost, is priced at $8.2 million [1]. The product departments actually meet inside it is Draft One, which drafts police reports from body-camera audio; Peoria, Illinois bought the same package after a council memo pitched officers spending less time writing [3].

That is where the growth comes from: revenue from the AI Era plan was [up roughly 700% in the latest quarter](https://note.com/nyankorobo/n/nae14762ee223), and net revenue retention, what existing customers pay against a year ago, reached 126% [4]. Cherokee's equipment counts barely move; the subscriptions carry the increase [1].

## The lock-in is priced, and the rulebook is missing

The county's own case warns that [leaving Axon would mean duplicating equipment, software, integrations and evidence systems](https://theinference.org/article/axons-customers-face-a-costly-exit-shareholders-face-an-expensive-entry) [1]. That is the product: the evidence already lives in Axon's cloud [6], which is why the deal faced no local bid and was price-checked only against Axon's own list price [1]. What the packet never says is when drones may fly, who checks the AI's work, or who may watch the camera streams [1].

Eleven residents objected on privacy grounds [1]. One cited the four former sheriff's employees charged this year with using plate readers for non-law-enforcement purposes [1]. Peoria's council then signed the same recipe unanimously on Oct. 27, a sole-source five-year package worth nearly $13.8 million, with usage limits left as a council member's pledge that drones would not "randomly look inside people's homes" [5][7][8].

Axon's chief executive, [Rick Smith](https://theinference.org/markets/people/rick-smith), made the risk explicit to investors: in public safety, "power without trust is not an opportunity, but a liability" [4].

## Watch Nov. 3, then Nov. 5

*Chart: **Axon's quarterly revenue has more than doubled in two years** Line chart of Axon quarterly revenue from Q3 2023 to Q2 2026, rising from $413 million to $904 million*

*Quarterly revenue in US$ millions as reported in Axon's SEC filings. Q3 2026, due Nov. 5, is not included. [9]*

Ten straight quarters of growth above 30% came while the customers generating it kept signing, with little visible friction [4]. Cherokee's stalled vote on an expired quote is that friction becoming public [1]. We traced the quote side of this machine earlier this month when [Santa Clara County got its own Axon offer](https://theinference.org/article/axon-s-quote-to-santa-clara-county-50-4-million-now-61-7-million-if-it-waits); Cherokee is the renewal side, and it is the harder one.

If commissioners sign with no restrictions attached, the AI attach converts at the price on the page and the renewal math holds. If they demand rules first, the bottleneck moves from the technology to the consent, and consent is the link that decides how far a 31% run extends. The AI is worth buying. The missing rulebook is what puts the bill at risk.

## Takeaway

A Georgia county votes Nov. 3 on a $37.3 million Axon renewal that starts at 2.6 times its current bill, with the AI license as the price driver; whether it signs clean, signs with rules or stalls is the test case for how far a 31% growth run extends.
