# Bank of America targets $100 on Penguin Solutions as one unnamed customer carries $10 billion of compute

> Bank of America opened Penguin Solutions at Buy with a $100 target, three days after the company disclosed a 36,000-GPU Norway project that matches a Volta Infrastructure buildout tied to Anthropic. That project rides on one unnamed customer, a seven-month-old borrower and debt pitched near an 11% yield.

## A $100 target on a 266% year

[Bank of America](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/bank-of-america) opened [Penguin Solutions](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/penguin-solutions) at Buy on October 9 with a $100 target, about 40% above the prior close of $71.57, [calling the stock a key beneficiary of agentic AI](https://www.cnbc.com/2026/10/09/penguin-solutions-will-rise-due-to-agentic-ai-bank-of-america-says.html) [7][2]. The market has pre-paid that thesis: PENG is up 266% this year and jumped more than 15% on October 7 after [fiscal fourth-quarter revenue rose 68% to $567 million](https://finance.yahoo.com/technology/ai/articles/penguin-solutions-shares-rise-over-143500006.html) [2][1]. Management lifted fiscal 2027 revenue guidance to about $2.43 billion, near 40% growth, on a balance sheet freshly padded with a $750 million zero-coupon convertible due 2031 [3].

## The disclosure is one customer deep

The quarter's engine is a single line in the release. An unnamed cloud infrastructure customer hired Penguin to deploy and operate [a 36,000-GPU AI factory in Norway, carrying $10 billion of contracted compute](https://www.benzinga.com/markets/prediction-markets/26/10/62219517/penguin-36000-gpu-anthropic-norway) from what Penguin calls a leading AI lab [3][1]. That one cluster equals more than a third of the 99,000-plus GPUs Penguin has deployed in its history [1]. Penguin names no one; Norway, the GPU count and the $10 billion figure match the Volta Infrastructure buildout Bloomberg has tied to [Anthropic](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/anthropic), which neither company has confirmed [1].

## Eleven percent for silicon against a 16-year lease

Underneath sits very young credit. Volta, founded in January 2026 and valued at $2.4 billion in an August round backed by [a16z](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/a16z), Altimeter, [Nvidia](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/nvidia) and Michael Dell, [signed a 16-year lease worth about $4.7 billion](https://cryptobriefing.com/bitdeer-volta-tydal-lease-ai/) on Bitdeer's 121-megawatt Tydal campus, with a fee-free exit after year ten [6][5]. JPMorgan is pitching [about $5 billion of financing at an all-in yield near 11%](https://thenextweb.com/news/jpmorgan-volta-5b-debt-package-norway-tydal-anthropic), with most of it buying chips whose useful life is a fraction of the lease they sit under [1]. The lab's reported compute contract runs six years [4][6].

*Chart: **Ten billion promised, five billion borrowed: the Norway money chain** Bar chart ranking the reported dollar values in the Norway chain: $10 billion compute commitment, $5 billion debt package, $4.7 billion lease, $3.7 billion GPU purchase and $1.3 billion lease credit support.*

*Reported dollar values in the Volta Norway chain as of October 7, 2026; the financing was being pitched and had not closed. Sources: Benzinga; Crypto Briefing. [1][5]*

## The bulls' answer, and its limit

The breadth case is real on paper: six new AI infrastructure customers in the quarter, four of them neoclouds, AI work at 78% of sales growing 141%, and seven of eight analysts at buy or better [3][7][2]. Analyst Wamsi Mohan cites a memory cycle running through 2028 and Penguin's grip on "time to first token" in inference [2]. Still, the largest disclosed project in the file runs through one lab's compute budget and one syndication's clearing yield, and Polymarket traders put that lab's odds of a November IPO near 71% [1].

## What decides it

Two dates carry the trade. Bitdeer must finish the Tydal build's first phase by December 31 [5]. And the $5 billion either syndicates near 11% or reprices [1]. Penguin gets paid to deploy and operate whatever the debt buys; the lenders are the ones holding 16 years of Norwegian lease against six years of promised compute.

## Takeaway

A $100 Bank of America target on Penguin Solutions rests on one unnamed lab's $10 billion compute promise, a seven-month-old borrower and $5 billion of debt that must clear near an 11% yield.
