The differentiation matters because ServiceTitan, the listed platform underneath it, has just unveiled 30 AI agents of its own. An after-hours caller with a dead furnace hears the voice she has trusted for years: the customer-service rep callers ask for by name. Since October 2, that voice can be synthetic [1]. The Y Combinator Winter 2022 startup, founded by AJ Jain and Aditya Ketkar, both of the BITS Pilani Goa campus Class of 2016 [2], says it has [grown from zero to more than 800 contractors in under two years](https://www.ycombinator.com/companies/broccoli-ai) [3]. Enterprise logos are landing: Broccoli's site quotes Sergio Salcido of Neighborly, [the franchise family behind Mr. Rooter and Aire Serv](https://www.neighborly.com/), [saying "We were using one of your competitors before"](https://www.broccoli.com/) [4][5]. Its first customer, former Armstrong Plumbing chief executive Marcelle Flowers, is now the company's chief industry officer [4]. ## The landlord moved in days later Voice Studio shipped October 2 [1]. Days later, at its Pantheon 2026 event this week, ServiceTitan (NASDAQ: TTAN), the contractor software Broccoli books jobs into [4], [unveiled Max: 30 AI agents](https://finance.yahoo.com/technology/ai/articles/servicetitan-unveils-max-ai-platform-090201568.html), among them a voice agent built for off-hours and peak call volume, with roughly 700 locations expected on it by the end of its fiscal year [6]. Chief executive Ara Mahdessian pitched "a business that runs itself" [6]. ## Thirty voices, minted from a sentence Voice Studio's library spans more than 30 voices in American, Southern, British and Australian English plus Spanish [1]. A voice can be minted from a one-sentence description, which makes it a per-location, per-calendar variable: the company's own demo shows the same HVAC firm in an October voice and a December voice [1]. [Expressive mode, introduced September 18 with more than 1,500 tone cues](https://www.broccoli.com/blog/expressive-voices), is on by default; the company claims its standard voice already books over 80 percent of calls [1][7][8]. ## The other side of the door ServiceTitan says contractors on its agentic operating system can run its agents, third-party agents, or their own, which keeps Broccoli a partner on paper [6]. The softer spot sits below: Broccoli's own post notes some customers ride [OpenAI](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/openai)'s GPT-Live-1 voice model [8]. [Voice models anyone can rent make features, not moats](https://theinference.org/article/elevenlabs-wants-another-500-million-a-better-voice-is-only-the-beginning), and a rival can ship a clone-the-CSR button of its own. ## Two tells decide the voice war Watch whether competing answering services match voice cloning within a quarter, and whether ServiceTitan's third-party-agent language survives Max's rollout. The voice is the brand.
