# Camtek pre-announces a record quarter and over $800 million of orders as Applied Materials won't guess

> Camtek pre-announced record third-quarter revenue of $160-161 million on October 14 and disclosed more than $800 million of orders booked since January. The disclosure lands in a chip-equipment market being sold for the forecasts companies declined to give.

The chip-tool market spent this week punishing companies for numbers they would not give [3][5]; [Camtek](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/camtek) answered on October 14 with a number already signed. [Camtek](https://www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?action=getcompany&CIK=0001109138), an Israeli maker of inspection and metrology systems that spot and measure defects on chips in production, [pre-announced record third-quarter revenue of $160-161 million](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1109138/000117891326004767/0001178913-26-004767-index.htm), above its own guidance [1].

Orders received since January exceed $800 million, with deliveries booked through 2026 and into 2027 [1]. On that order book, management set full-year 2026 revenue at about $595 million and put its initial 2027 outlook above $800 million, growth it estimates at more than 35% [1].

*Chart: **Camtek's outlook calls for revenue growth to accelerate above 35% in 2027** Camtek annual revenue from FY2024 to FY2027, showing growth accelerating past $800 million in 2027*

*Annual revenue sums reported quarterly figures from Camtek's SEC filings; FY2026 is management's about-$595 million setting and FY2027 is the company's initial outlook of above $800 million from the October 14, 2026, announcement. [1][10]*

## AI chips are stacks, and stacks must be inspected

An AI accelerator is no longer a single chip; it is a stack of chiplets and high-bandwidth memory assembled into one package. Every added layer is a place a defect can hide and ruin an expensive finished part. So each expansion of packaging capacity buys inspection and measurement tools alongside the bonding machines.

Camtek's Hawk and Eagle G5 systems sit at exactly that step, and chief executive Rafi Amit ties the exceptional order intake to advanced packaging for AI applications [1]. The chain runs from AI demand to packaging capacity to inspection tools, and the inspection layer is where the demand becomes countable.

*Chart: **Camtek's revenue step-change lands just as equipment stocks sell off** Camtek quarterly revenue from Q1 2024 to Q4 2026, showing a step-change in the second half of 2026 as AI packaging orders land*

*Reported quarterly revenue from Camtek's SEC filings; Q3 2026 is preliminary and Q4 2026 is company guidance from the October 14, 2026, announcement. [1][10]*

## Equipment stocks are falling over a number no one gave

[Applied Materials](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/applied-materials), the chip-equipment giant, [slid 7.5% on October 13 after declining, at its investor day, to estimate industry wafer-fab-equipment spending](https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/applied-materials-shares-slide-chip-170346016.html) [3]. [KLA](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/kla), the process-control leader, put a number on it anyway, expecting industry tool spending of about $150 billion this year [6].

A day later, [ASML](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/asml), the lithography supplier, [said its planned capacity for 2027 and 2028 will not fully meet customer demand](https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/asml-reports-11-7-billion-050000954.html) [4], and semiconductor stocks still fell 1.3% [5]. Even Camtek traded lower on the morning it published its order book [2].

That pattern points to selling driven by a missing forecast rather than by contracted demand: the company that withheld its number fell hardest, and the one that disclosed an order book fell alongside it [2][3].

## The same demand runs through the packaging chain

[Onto Innovation](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/onto-innovation), Camtek's closest listed peer in packaging inspection, [raised its 2026 advanced-packaging growth outlook to at least 80%](https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/dragonfly-g5-momentum-sustain-ontos-111000946.html) and has booked more than $200 million of Dragonfly orders from a single packaging customer, most for delivery in 2027 [6]. Besi of the Netherlands and ASMPT make the assembly and bonding equipment those stacks are built on [8][9].

Two dates now test the order book. [Amkor](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/amkor-technology), [the largest US-headquartered provider of outsourced chip packaging and test](https://theinference.org/article/amkor-s-2-5-3-billion-ai-packaging-bet-partly-prepaid-by-nvidia-gets-its-first-test-october-26), reports third-quarter results on October 26, the next scheduled reading of this end-market [7]. Camtek follows with full third-quarter numbers in early November [1]. Between them they will show whether the demand behind Camtek's outlook is an industry pattern or one company's win.

## Takeaway

Camtek answered the chip-equipment market's forecast hunger with signed numbers: record Q3 revenue of $160-161 million and more than $800 million of orders since January, pointing to 2027 revenue above $800 million even as peers without a number fell hardest.
