# Coca-Cola hands Omnicom $800 million of North America media; WPP keeps the $4 billion global account

> Coca-Cola split its media: WPP keeps the global account it won in 2020 at a reported $4 billion, Omnicom takes North America after beating Dentsu, effective December 1. On Omnicom's own Q3 call the same day, an analyst asked whether AI agents make holding companies obsolete, and 53% of Omnicom's $6 billion of core revenue sat in the blast radius.

Coca-Cola's decision landed on [Omnicom](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/omnicom-group)'s earnings call the same day. WPP keeps the soda giant's global media account, won in 2020 at a reported $4 billion, minus North America, Japan and South Korea [1][2][3]. Omnicom, the advertising holding company, takes the North America business after beating Dentsu, effective December 1 [1][2][3]. The prize is [an estimated $800 million account, per MediaPost](https://www.mediapost.com/publications/article/418934/omnicom-stock-rises-on-q3-results-coke-media-win.html) [4].

## The stake: the biggest name in marketing switched hands in a week

The pitch only existed because Publicis [resigned Coke's North America media in 2025](https://www.adweek.com/agencies/omnicom-nabs-coca-colas-north-america-media-account-while-wpp-retains-globally/), [then walked away from the global review](https://finance.yahoo.com/media-advertising/articles/coca-cola-company-selects-agency-204500024.html) after taking rival [PepsiCo](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/pepsico)'s global media business [2][5]. PepsiCo had been an Omnicom client for decades, lost without a pitch [2]. The musical chairs left Omnicom paying for its old client's defeat with Coke's biggest market.

## The same day, the harder question arrived

On Thursday's Q3 call, SSR analyst Tim Nolan asked the existential version: [if AI agents can plan and buy media, who needs a holding company](https://www.adexchanger.com/agencies/q3-omnicoms-media-business-is-growing-but-is-it-agent-proof/) [1]? Walled gardens and independent ad tech firms are building end-to-end platforms that do what agencies used to do [1].

CFO Phil Angelastro said market complexity makes Omnicom "more central." CTO Paolo Yuvienco pointed to Omni, the company's AI platform, which "orchestrates that complexity on behalf of our clients." He did not say how Omni beats the end-to-end rivals Nolan described [1].

## 53% of core revenue sits in the blast radius

Integrated media, media, commerce, data, CRM, consulting and content automation, made up 53% of Omnicom's $6 billion in core revenue in Q3 and grew more than 10% organically [1][4]. It is exactly the work agents are being built to take [1][4]. Core revenue rose 7.2% organically; the US, 60% of it, grew 10% [1]. CEO [John Wren](https://theinference.org/markets/people/john-wren) flagged that the World Cup and midterms boosted both, and neither repeats in 2027 [1]. Creative advertising fell mid-single digits [4].

*Chart: **The segment AI agents target is Omnicom's fastest growing: integrated media up over 10%** Column chart of Q3 2026 Omnicom organic growth: integrated media and US market about +10%, total core +7.2%, creative about -5%*

*Organic revenue growth, Q3 2026, Omnicom earnings call. Integrated media and US market grew more than 10%; creative declined mid-single digits (bars marked as approximate). Sources: AdExchanger [1], MediaPost [4]. [1][4]*

## The counterpoint: the market voted Thursday

Investors liked the quarter and the Coke win: Omnicom shares rose 2.5% and added 3% after hours [4]. Wren says Omnicom is gaining share and has the cash to keep investing, with more M&A once the $3.6 billion disposal program wraps by year end [1][4]. The AI threat is real but unbilled; the PepsiCo-for-Coke swap is booked now.

Watch December 1, when the new structure takes effect, and whether Coke's North America team builds on Omnicom's Omni stack or negotiates its toll down. The agent question returns with every renewal.

## Takeaway

Coca-Cola split its media: WPP keeps the $4 billion global account, Omnicom wins North America at an estimated $800 million. On Omnicom's Q3 call, the same day, an analyst asked what happens if AI agents make holding companies obsolete.
