# Dayforce launched agents it has not priced; Workday's AI revenue is near $600 million

> Dayforce's first flagship release as a private company puts agents, not admins, in charge of HR work. Workday already bills about $600 million a year in AI revenue; Dayforce has published no agent price.

[Dayforce](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/dayforce) used its Discover conference last week to launch [the Agentic HCM Platform](https://itwire.com/business-it-news/data/dayforce-unveils-the-agentic-hcm-platform), the first full rebuild of the suite since Thoma Bravo completed its $12.3 billion take-private on February 4 [1][2]. Ask Dayforce answers and acts, AI Agents carry multi-step work, customers build bots in plain language, and the planning module models skills, capacity and costs across employees and AI agents [1]. The capability bet looks sound; the missing number is the price.

## The system of record is where agents can act safely

HR software already holds an agent's prerequisites: employee data, permissions, approvals and audit trails. Dayforce built its governance layer for the shift from AI that answers questions to AI that takes action [1]. Work the chain forward: an agent inside the record system can approve a shift or file a form, turning software most employees open a few times a year into something that works daily; analyst Josh Bersin sizes that usage gain at up to 100 times and expects companies to run as many agents as people by 2030 [3].

## Dayforce's own planning tool prices work in tokens, not heads

The tension sits inside Dayforce's new [Strategic Workforce Planning Agent](https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/dayforce-introduces-agentic-strategic-workforce-planning-to-help-leaders-design-the-workforce-of-the-future-1036672865), which measures the cost of a workforce change in both headcount and AI token costs [4]. A vendor whose HCM revenue is billed per employee per month is shipping software that shows customers how to run a workforce with fewer billed employees. Dayforce promises simple, predictable pricing and has published no figures [2].

[Workday](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/workday), the fight's only listed pure-play, is already billing: its AI portfolio [approaches $600 million in annual recurring revenue](https://finance.yahoo.com/technology/ai/articles/workday-analyst-day-spotlights-ai-040210594.html), with agents sold through [Flex](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/flex) Credits [5]. It expects AI to drive most of this year's incremental subscription revenue [5]. [SAP](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/sap) fields more than 40 agents in HCM alone; [Oracle](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/oracle) more than 1,000 across its ERP suite [3].

*Chart: **Oracle counts across its full ERP suite, SAP in HCM only; no one has priced an agent** Bars comparing vendor-stated agent counts: Oracle more than 1,000 across its ERP suite, SAP more than 40 in HCM, Workday 17 Superagents in production.*

*Vendor-stated agent counts, as each vendor counts them: Oracle more than 1,000 across its full ERP suite, SAP more than 40 in HCM alone, Workday 17 Superagents in production. Dayforce states only hundreds of agentic tools planned across the workforce lifecycle and is not plotted. Sources: HR Briefing. [3]*

## Watch the first published agent price

Most of Dayforce's new machinery, [Build, Marketplace](https://www.saasbuzz.com/product-launches/dayforce-build-marketplace-launch) and [the Claude connector](https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2026/10/27/3389570/0/en/dayforce-in-anthropic-s-claude-to-help-you-finish-work-where-you-work.html), ships in 2027 [2][6], though [Carahsoft's GSA Schedule](https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2026/10/29/3391324/0/en/dayforce-expands-public-sector-access-to-its-agentic-hcm-platform-through-carahsoft.html) already opens a public-sector route [7] and Checkr, whose background checks inside payroll we covered last week, is among the seven named Build partners [2]. Workday answered first and is live: [Sana is its home screen now](https://hrforwardasia.com/workday-names-sana-its-new-home-as-agentic-experience-takes-on-hr-finance-and-it-tasks/), with Concierge reaching general availability in the first quarter of 2027 [8]. Workday carries the quarterly disclosure pressure Dayforce just escaped [5].

The agents have shipped. The price has not. Two disclosures settle the cannibalisation question: Workday's Flex Credits realization rate in its next quarterly report, and the price list Dayforce owes before Build ships in 2027. Whichever lands first sets the terms of a market both are selling against their own seat base.

## Takeaway

Dayforce rebuilt its HCM suite around agents and Workday already bills about $600 million a year in AI, but neither has published how an agent is priced, and that number decides who eats the seat bill first.
