# Doximity put Wolters Kluwer's UpToDate inside its Ask tool for health systems, and named no price

> Doximity's rival claims died on October 16; on October 20 it licensed Wolters Kluwer's UpToDate into Ask with no price attached, while a securities class action and an EBITDA-cutting AI bill press on the stock.

[Doximity](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/doximity) walked out of one courtroom and into another argument last week. On October 16, a federal judge in Massachusetts [dismissed with prejudice all of OpenEvidence's corporate-espionage and defamation claims](https://healthexec.com/topics/artificial-intelligence/doximity-openevidence-settle-lawsuits-over-development-healthcare-ai-chatbot) in the "ChatGPT for doctors" fight, each side absorbing its own fees, terms undisclosed, no findings against anyone [1].

Four days later, on October 20, the company [announced its competitive answer](https://www.wolterskluwer.com/en/news/doximity-wolters-kluwer-uptodate-doximity-ask): Wolters Kluwer Health's UpToDate, roughly 13,000 clinical topics built by about 7,600 physician authors, editors and peer reviewers, will appear inside Doximity Ask, right beside the AI's own answer, at health systems that buy both products [2]. No price was named.

## The evidence layer is a utility now

Here is what the partnership coverage missed: Wolters Kluwer is selling the same evidence to everyone. Its own newsroom shows Suki launching an "Ask" powered by UpToDate Expert AI on October 8, twelve days before Doximity's turn [2]. UpToDate is becoming plumbing. What remains contested is the front door: the network used by more than 85% of US physicians, with a Clinical AI Suite deployed across more than 165 health systems including 10 of the top 20 hospitals [2].

## The bill lands in EBITDA

The AI answer is bought in compute. Freedom Capital cut to Hold with a $27 target, [citing a reduced fiscal 2027 EBITDA outlook](https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/doximity-docs-stock-gets-fair-021407064.html) as Doximity scales AI compute and product spend [3]. [Wells Fargo](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/wells-fargo) holds Underweight at $18, calling the AI monetization path unproven; Needham sits at $41 [3].

The stock [closed October 21 at $33.58](https://www.marketscreener.com/news/doximity-and-wolters-kluwer-health-bring-uptodate-to-doximity-ask-ce785cd8d18df025), above the $31.11 street average, after a [6.2% jump on the 20th](https://news.alphastreet.com/doximity-jumps-6-2-amid-sector-wide-rally/) that was a sector-wide health-tech rally, not a verdict on the deal [4][5].

*Chart: **Doximity trades above the street average target despite the bears** Bar chart of analyst price targets for Doximity from $18 to $41 against the $33.58 close and $31.11 average target*

*Analyst price targets in US dollars per share, from ratings actions reported October 21, 2026; close and street average from MarketScreener. Wells Fargo, BofA, Truist, Freedom Capital and BMO carry Hold, Underperform or Underweight ratings; Raymond James Outperform; Needham Buy. [3][4]*

## The revenue that funds it is in court

[A securities class action filed in the Northern District of California](https://www.financialcontent.com/article/gnwcq-2026-10-21-bragar-eagel-and-squire-pc-reminds-doximity-inc-investors-that-a-class-action-lawsuit-has-been-filed-against-doximity-and-encourages-investors-to-contact-the-firm-before-november-16th), covering August 8, 2024, to May 13, 2026, alleges Doximity called the Newsfeed its "biggest revenue driver" reaching "new highs," denied it had an e-newsletter product, and leaned on banner ads and email newsletters anyway, while losing share to cheaper competitors [6]. Lead-plaintiff papers are due November 16 [6]. These are allegations, not findings.

The next reading is November 5: Q2 fiscal 2027 results, where AI usage has to start paying for its own compute [4].

Learn more in our October 16 piece, "[Doximity settles OpenEvidence's trade-secrets suit in principle as shareholders sue over 'gain share'](https://theinference.org/article/doximity-settles-openevidence-s-trade-secrets-suit-in-principle-as-shareholders-sue-over-gain-share)."

## Takeaway

Doximity's October 20 UpToDate deal answers OpenEvidence with licensed evidence, but Wolters Kluwer sells the same layer to Suki too, so the real moat is the physician network; with AI compute spending cutting EBITDA forecasts and a securities class action pending, the November 5 earnings print is the test.
