# FormFactor's revenue passed its own $225 million quarterly ceiling; it opened a Texas plant and fell 15.3%

> FormFactor opened its Texas probe-card plant the same day its stock fell 15%, with revenue already past the $225 million quarterly ceiling management set in February. Teradyne, now a $300 million shareholder, reports on October 27 with a guide below its own record.

[FormFactor](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/formfactor) just admitted, in the politest way possible, that it cannot make enough of its product. On October 22 it [opened a probe-card plant in Farmers Branch, Texas](https://www.formfactor.com/press-release/formfactor-opens-farmers-branch-manufacturing-facility-to-support-growing-demand-for-advanced-probe-card-technologies/) [2], and the reason is on the tape: the test consumable that touches every GPU, custom ASIC and HBM stack before it ships is selling faster than the company's own plants can handle.

The stock fell 15.3% the same day; the next two prints settle whether the fix protects margin [3].

[Management said in February its existing facilities could support about $225 million of revenue a quarter](https://x.com/Schulz_Research/status/2113290743595024766) [1]. [The quarter that ended in June brought in $258 million, and the guide for the current one is $270 million](https://www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?action=getcompany&CIK=0001039399) [1]. The plant is not growth for its own sake; it is a remedy for a ceiling the company has already blown through.

## Revenue has passed the ceiling management itself set

*Chart: **Revenue has sat above management's $225M ceiling for two quarters and is still climbing** Column chart of FormFactor quarterly revenue from Q3 2024 to Q2 2026 with a reference line at the $225 million capacity ceiling described in February 2026; the last two quarters sit above the line.*

Here is the chain to watch. Advanced packaging turns each AI chip into a bigger, more fragile assembly, so test intensity per die rises, so probe cards become a recurring consumable bill that scales with wafer starts. That demand is observable, not projected: FormFactor's revenue is up about 32% year over year [6], and its own release names GPUs, ASICs and HBM as the driver [2]. [Teradyne](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/teradyne), the test giant, [closed a $300 million equity investment in FormFactor on October 20](https://www.marketscreener.com/news/formfactor-inc-announced-that-it-has-received-300-million-in-funding-from-teradyne-inc-ce785cd8de80f024) and now owns a seat at exactly that link [3].

## What the release never says, and why the December quarter answers it

The Texas release never states how much capacity Farmers Branch adds [2]. That omission is the reader's open position: until the company says otherwise, whether the December quarter clears the $270 million-plus run rate without margin cost is a capex-and-margin question dressed as growth [2]. The proof arrives with FormFactor's next earnings, not with the ribbon-cutting.

The tape is not a FormFactor verdict, and it is worth saying why. The shares closed at $95.03 on October 22 after five trading days had already taken 16% off the stock [3].

The selling was sector-wide: [the same session took Entegris down 12% and Amkor down 8.4%](https://news.alphastreet.com/formfactor-plunges-12-0-amid-sector-wide-selling/) [5]. When a whole sector moves in one day, the selling is about sentiment toward semiconductor equipment, not about the plant.

## Teradyne reports first, on October 27

The dated catalyst comes before FormFactor's print. Teradyne reports on October 27 [3], and its $300 million stake means its guide is now FormFactor's proxy. Its June quarter was a record $1.33 billion [7], and the current guide sits below that record [3]. Add the backdrop that two Teradyne insiders sold about $1.6 million of stock on October 19, days before the investment closed [3], and the message is a company still growing but past peak acceleration.

So watch three things, in order. Teradyne's guide on October 27, for the temperature of the whole test cycle. FormFactor's Q3 print against its own $270 million guide. And gross margin through the December quarter, while Farmers Branch ramps. If revenue clears the old ceiling with margin intact, the plant was infrastructure for demand. If margin sags, the $95 close had it right.

## Takeaway

FormFactor's revenue has blown through the $225M quarterly ceiling management set in February, and the new Texas plant is the fix; whether margin survives the ramp settles with Teradyne's October 27 guide and FormFactor's Q3 print.
