# Hubbell data center sales grew over 80%; nVent guided Q4 organic growth to 26% to 29%, down from 44%

> Hubbell's data center sales grew more than 80% and nVent beat and raised, yet both stocks fell. nVent's fourth-quarter organic guide of 26-29%, down from 44%, is the first hard evidence of deceleration in the AI electrical chain.

[Hubbell](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/hubbell)'s wiring devices and pin-and-sleeve connectors, the electrical content inside every data center, [grew more than 80% organically in the third quarter of 2026](https://datacenterfeed.com/article/hubbell-q3-data-center-sales-electrical-capacity-october-2026), and the company is doubling capacity spending to about $50 million a quarter for 2027 [1][3]. Four days later the closest comparable, [nVent Electric](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/nvent-electric), beat estimates, raised full-year guidance and still fell 8.8%, because it told the market what comes next: [fourth-quarter organic growth of 26% to 29%, down from 44% in the quarter just reported](https://seekingalpha.com/news/4661633-nvent-raises-2026-outlook-to-48-percentminus-49-percent-sales-growth-and-5_36-5_39-adjusted) [2][4].

That guide is the first hard number showing organic growth in AI data-center electrical content decelerating.

## The whole complex sold off on good news

On October 30 nVent reported revenue of $1.51 billion against a $1.43 billion estimate, up 43.7%, with adjusted EPS of $1.52 against $1.40 expected, and raised its full-year adjusted EPS range to $5.36 to $5.39 from $5.00 to $5.10 [2][4]. [The stock fell 8.81% anyway](https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/behind-move-nvent-stock-012326132.html), while [Eaton](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/eaton) dropped 6.03%, [Vertiv](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/vertiv) 5.46% and Hubbell 3.60% on a day the S&P 500 lost 1.8% [2].

When the market marks down every supplier of data center gear on a day of beats, it is pricing the next quarter, not the last one. Hubbell's [own print three days earlier](https://theinference.org/article/hubbell-s-data-center-quarter-electrical-solutions-up-51-guidance-raised-debt-doubled-to-fund-it) made the same point: shares fell 6% on October 27 even though the raised guidance midpoint of $20.50 landed almost exactly on the $20.51 consensus [1].

## What Hubbell actually said, and what was buried in it

Hubbell's third quarter, reported October 27, showed net sales up 25% to $1.873 billion, adjusted EPS of $5.91, up 14%, and an adjusted operating margin of 25.5% [1]. Electrical Solutions, the segment where the data center demand lands, grew 51% including acquisitions and 22% organically; [data centers are now about 15% of that segment's sales](https://finance.yahoo.com/technology/articles/data-center-purchases-electrical-equipment-120000260.html) [1][3].

*Chart: **Hubbell's reported growth accelerated every quarter of 2026, to 24.6% in Q3** Line chart of Hubbell's year-over-year revenue growth by quarter from Q2 2024 to Q3 2026, rising from 6.3% through a 2025 dip to 24.6% in Q3 2026.*

Behind the 80% data center headline, two details complicate the January print [1]. First, a meter component shortage moved about $15 million of third-quarter revenue into the fourth quarter, so part of any Q4 beat is a catch-up, not a new sale [1]. Second, Hubbell starts its 2027 price increases in November, so margin can be defended even if volume slows [1][3].

## The counterpoint is strong

nVent's CEO [Beth Wozniak](https://theinference.org/markets/people/beth-wozniak) told analysts in October that orders are "very strong" and that there is "no pause" in data center demand, and its backlog grew to $2.6 billion [4]. Hubbell's CEO [Gerben Bakker](https://theinference.org/markets/people/gerben-bakker) described demand exceeding its own expectations for the year [3].

The bull case holds that electrical content per megawatt keeps rising no matter which hyperscaler builds, and the capacity commitments ($200 million from Hubbell in 2027, a new 400,000 square foot nVent facility in Arizona announced the same week) suggest suppliers see multi-year demand [1][3][4]. But growth rates are the market's yardstick for these stocks, and nVent's own guidance put that yardstick at roughly half its Q3 level [1][3][4].

## What the January print must show

Hubbell reports its fourth quarter in late January 2027 [1][2][4]. The number to watch is Electrical Solutions organic growth, not the headline: strip out the $15 million catch-up and the acquisitions, and any print near nVent's 26% to 29% guide confirms the deceleration is industry-wide [1][2][4]. More than 80% growth rates are a launch number [1][2][4]. The forward multiple is set by what the next quarter does.

## Takeaway

nVent beat and raised but guided Q4 organic growth to 26-29%, down from 44%, and the market marked down every supplier of data center electrical gear the same day. Watch Hubbell's late-January print: Electrical Solutions organic growth near that guide, stripped of a $15 million meter catch-up, confirms the deceleration is industry-wide.
