An exclusion order would bite the day it issues; the respondents say it will not touch them. ## Twenty respondents, one case over the power beneath AI chips [Vicor](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/vicor), the Massachusetts power-module maker, filed a Section 337 complaint on September 9, 2026, alleging that vertical power delivery systems, their components and the computing systems that contain them infringe its patents when imported into the United States [1]. The commission instituted the investigation on October 9 as case 337-TA-1526 [2]. Twenty respondents answer for it: Hon Hai Precision and [Foxconn Industrial Internet](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/foxconn-industrial-internet), Delta Electronics, Quanta Computer, Luxshare, Monolithic Power Systems, Infineon, Flex, Celestica and their affiliates, spread across Taiwan, China, Germany, Canada and the United States [1]. Vertical power delivery feeds an AI processor from directly beneath the chip, the path the newest accelerator boards take [3]. ## An exclusion order would bite the day it issues Vicor requests a limited exclusion order, cease-and-desist orders and a bond during the 60-day presidential review [1]. Those remedies take effect on issuance and become final after 60 days unless the US trade representative disapproves [4]. The commission sets a target date within 45 days, and Section 337 cases typically run 12 to 16 months [4]. The commission has made no decision on the merits [4]. The tape already has: Foxconn Industrial Internet [fell 7.17% in Shanghai](https://it.investing.com/news/stock-market-news/perche-il-titolo-di-foxconn-industrial-internet-scende-oggi-93CH-3583018) while Vicor rose 1.43% [5]. ## The respondents say nothing is touched Delta said its products are not currently affected and it will respond through legal procedures [4]. Luxshare said it expects no material impact, because the products named are still in customer testing rather than mass production [3]. Foxconn Industrial Internet [said its products are in internal validation and evaluation](https://www.ad-hoc-news.de/boerse/news/corporate-news/us-patent-probe-hits-foxconn-industrial-internet-stock/70298224) [2], on top of second-quarter revenue of CNY 306.8 billion, up 53% [2]. ## The 2025 import ban turned into licenses and royalties This is Vicor's second front. In early 2025 the ITC barred imports of infringing power modules from Delta, Quanta and two Foxconn units [6]. Four leading OEMs and hyperscalers have since taken licenses, and unlicensed ones called once the bans landed, chief executive Patrizio Vinciarelli said [7]. [8]* ## Three dates now run the clock The earlier order is still being fought in the Federal Circuit, and a ruling that narrows it removes much of the reason for anyone to sign [6].
