# MixerBox's ZenClaw charges up to $1,200 a month to run a stack NVIDIA gives away

> The company that once led ChatGPT's plugin store is selling a 9-second AI employee for up to $1,200 a month, built on a governed stack NVIDIA gives away free with one command. The subscription is really a bet on how much setup pain small firms will pay to avoid.

Chinese-speaking tech circles nickname the open-source agent OpenClaw a lobster, a creature you raise rather than install: it sorts mail, books meetings, answers customers and chases orders [1]. Raising one is not trivial. Taiwan's Nownews, in a [June 15, 2026, report](https://www.nownews.com/news/6846889), lists installation, permission setup and security configuration as the wall standing in front of a non-technical owner [1]. Its subject is ZenClaw, a service that raises the lobster for you: an AI employee built on NVIDIA's NemoClaw stack, on the job in 9 seconds [2].

ZenClaw is owned and operated by [MixerBox Inc.](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/mixerbox), the Palo Alto company behind consumer apps such as OnePlayer and Freecable TV, and its homepage now lists ZenClaw first among all its products [3]. English-language coverage has not surfaced; only Taiwan's write-up and the company's own pages appear [1].

## $400 to $1,200 a month to skip the IT team

ZenClaw's business plans, Starter, Growth and Scale, run $400, $800 and $1,200 a month, each with a dedicated NemoClaw sandbox, per-domain network allowlists and full data isolation [2]. Personal plans start at $20 a month; the $100 and $200 tiers are marked Coming Soon [2]. [The site's own comparison table](https://www.zenclaw.ai/) puts a traditional self-setup at hours to days, with manual TLS certificates and DNS records, against its 9 seconds [2].

## NVIDIA's version is free, one command away

Here is the wrinkle. NVIDIA distributes the same stack free and open source, installed with a single curl command, with OpenShell runtime controls over files, networks and credentials [4]. NVIDIA is not quiet about it either: its NemoClaw hub promotes [a hands-on course, Securing Agents With NemoClaw and OpenShell](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/ai/nemoclaw/), dated October 7, 2026 [4]. And on August 31, 2026, OpenClaw 2.0 added shared cloud sessions, multi-user gateways, role-based permissions, sandboxing and auditing, much of what a managed host sells around [5].

## From 682 plugins to recurring revenue

MixerBox has stood on someone else's platform before. In July 2023 the company, founded in 2012 by Taiwanese-Australian entrepreneur John Lai, [claimed the most plugins in ChatGPT's store, more than 10 of 682](https://www.prnewswire.com/apac/news-releases/australian-entrepreneur-becomes-the-largest-developer-of-chatgpt-plugin-store-introduces-worlds-1st-ai-chatbot-for-maps-301876931.html), on the back of 300 million app downloads and early backing from Y Combinator, Adam D'Angelo and Paul Buchheit [6]. Three years on, the top product on its homepage is not a plugin but a subscription [3].

## What $1,200 buys that the command does not

The counterargument carries weight. NemoClaw was still in Alpha early preview when [ZenClaw's blog opened on April 23, 2026](https://www.zenclaw.ai/blog) [7]. OpenClaw's own documentation says sandboxing and execution approvals are off by default, a baseline built for one trusted operator [5]. A shop with no engineer still needs someone to hold the pager [when an agent overspends](https://theinference.org/article/gitlab-shipped-a-spending-meter-for-its-ai-agents-and-the-founder-s-trust-sold-101m) or leaks, and OpenClaw had accumulated around 138 known CVEs by April 2026, by ZenClaw's own blog's count [7]. But OpenClaw 2.0's multiplayer features pull deployments back toward the free project [5].

## Three readings will settle the bet

NVIDIA gives away the land and MixerBox is betting small firms will pay rent anyway. The next readings sit on the calendar: NVIDIA's October course push, NemoClaw's exit from alpha, and whether the resulting program blesses hosts like ZenClaw or replaces them [4][7].

## Takeaway

MixerBox's ZenClaw sells managed OpenClaw hosting at $400 to $1,200 a month on a stack NVIDIA gives away with one command; the bet is that small firms will pay to skip setup and security pain, and NVIDIA's October course push and NemoClaw's exit from alpha will test it.
