# POET's November 16 report tests a $0.7 million quarter against its Malaysia 800G promise

> The company told investors on October 16 that the quarter it promised high-volume 800G output in Malaysia reports in 27 days. A projection of $138.4 million in 2027 revenue is circulating against a September quarter the market expects at roughly $0.7 million.

[POET Technologies](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/poet-technologies) has put a date on its own exam. On October 16, the Toronto photonics designer said it [will report third-quarter results on November 16, before the open](https://finance.yahoo.com/technology/ai/articles/poet-technologies-report-third-quarter-110000064.html), and will begin regular quarterly earnings calls with the full-year print expected March 1, 2027.[1][2] That quarter just closing is the one the company said would carry its Malaysia line into high-volume 800G engine production, on a year guided to more than 30,000 optical engines shipped.[3] Twenty-seven days from today, on November 16, investors learn whether it held.

## A rebuilt company hangs on one customer

The stakes are set. On May 14, POET signed a supply agreement with Lumilens carrying an initial $50 million order, built to pass $500 million over five years if qualification succeeds; engineering samples are due late this year and volume production in 2027. A warrant for 22.9 million shares at $8.25 vests only as Lumilens payments land.[4] It is the sole anchor customer after [Marvell](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/marvell), following a CFO video interview on April 21, [canceled every POET purchase order on April 23](https://theinference.org/article/poet-lost-every-marvell-order-after-its-cfo-spoke-the-rebuild-is-one-50-million-deal) over what it called unauthorized disclosure, and the stock fell 47.3% in a day.[4]

## The circulating projection sits far above the ledger

The circulating projection has 2027 revenue at 30 times 2026's expected $4.67 million: $138.4 million, with a price target of about $15 a share, while management's own 2028 goal is $300 million.[3][5][6] Against that, the market expects the September quarter at roughly $0.7 million of revenue, up from $0.5 million, and lifetime revenue since 2020 is only $2.3 million.[5][7] Second-quarter revenue was $569,925, the sixth straight sequential rise, against a $12.2 million quarterly operating cash outflow and negative gross profit.[4][6] Short interest stood at 22.8 million shares at the September 15 settlement, and the stock closed October 15 at $5.43, a market cap of $939.7 million, down from $7.79 on October 9, with a securities suit over the April disclosure still pending.[3][4]

*Chart: **The cash burn deepened even as revenue rose: a record $12.3 million outflow in the June quarter** Line chart of POET Technologies' quarterly operating cash flow in US dollars from Q3 2024 to Q2 2026, all negative, deepening to a record $12.27 million outflow in the June 2026 quarter.*

*Quarterly operating cash flow, US dollars, from POET Technologies' SEC filings, retrieved October 20, 2026. Every quarter in the series is an outflow, and the June 2026 quarter's $12.27 million burn was the largest. [8]*

*Chart: **Six straight quarters of revenue growth, to $570,000 in the June quarter** Bar chart of POET quarterly revenue in US$ thousands, from Q4 2024 through Q2 2026: 30, 170, 270, 300, 340, 500, 570, rising in six consecutive quarters to $569,925 in the June 2026 quarter.*

*Quarterly revenue in US$ thousands from POET Technologies' SEC filings, retrieved October 20, 2026. Q2 2026 was $569,925, up 112% year over year. The September-quarter figure expected around November 16 is a consensus estimate of about $700K and is not plotted. [8]*

## What November 16 settles

The bear argument needs no embellishment: $830 million of equity issued this year, a promise-driven valuation against a $0.7 million quarter.[4] The bull case is timing. [Lumentum](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/lumentum)'s chief executive said [his optical parts are "completely sold out"](https://www.xtb.com/int/market-analysis/news-and-research/poet-a-meme-stock-in-photonics-is-there-still-hope) through early 2029, demand exceeds supply by about an order of magnitude, and POET holds $796.3 million in cash.[4][5] A sold-out market forgives a slow quarter less than a shipped one. Watch November 16 for three lines: revenue against the $0.7 million consensus, confirmation that high-volume 800G output started in Malaysia in the third quarter, and any second customer. A miss does not kill the Lumilens deal; a silent quarter with no new name makes the warrant's $8.25 strike, standing $2.82 above the October 15 close, look further out of reach than it did when it was signed.[3][4]

## Takeaway

POET reports the quarter it tied to high-volume 800G output in Malaysia on November 16: consensus expects about $0.7 million of revenue, six straight quarters of growth run against a record $12.3 million cash burn, and the report will be judged on whether Malaysia volume production is confirmed and a second customer named.
