# SaaStr credits Artisan with millions in closed deals, then builds its own AI for top accounts

> SaaStr founder Jason Lemkin just handed Artisan the clearest named-customer revenue receipt in AI outbound software. The same post draws the ceiling: vendors keep the volume, the best accounts go in-house, and Salesforce meters every read.

## The receipt: a year of warm outbound, millions closed

SaaStr founder Jason Lemkin [laid out his outbound stack on October 7](https://www.saastr.com/we-run-monaco-agentforce-and-artisan-for-outbound-we-still-built-our-own-ai-abm-tool-for-our-top-accounts/) [1]. [Artisan's](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/artisan) AI business development rep Ava has run the warm outbound for over a year and, in his words, "booked millions of closed won for us," the channel where SaaStr spools up the most volume [1]. Artisan's own case study, company-claimed like every vendor number, [counts 47,641 emails sent for SaaStr at a 4.4% positive response rate](https://www.artisan.co/customers/saastr) [2]. SaaStr's chief AI officer, Amelia Lerutte, calls Artisan "neck-and-neck in both output and closed-won revenue" [2].

## A private vendor's hardest proof

Artisan has stayed private since [a $25M Series A in April 2025](https://pulse2.com/artisan-25-million-series-a-raised-for-outbound-sales-platform/), led by Glade Brook Capital with [HubSpot](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/hubspot) Ventures, BOND and Y Combinator participating [3]. Another featured logo, SumUp, has sent more than 976,000 personalized emails through Ava [4], drawing 8 to 15 positive replies a week from hard-to-reach SMBs, per Artisan's chief executive [3]. Future Market Insights [sizes the category at $1.9B in 2026, headed to $11.3B by 2036 at 19.5% a year](https://www.fmiblog.com/2026/09/25/ai-sales-development-representative-market-to-reach-usd-11-3-billion-by-2036-at-19-5-cagr-singapore-leads-country-growth-at-25-1-australia-follows-at-20-6/) [5]. That compounding pool funds the volume layer, and the volume layer is what [Salesforce](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/salesforce)'s new metering taxes.

## The ceiling: top accounts stay in-house

The warning ships inside the same post. Lemkin keeps 90% of outbound with vendors but built a pitch generator inside his own agent, 10K, for top accounts, because outreach built on six systems of first-party data "just can't, today, it can't be bought" [1]. He has also floated replacing one of the four vendors with 10K itself [1].

The renewal agent behind the move lifted custom decks from about five to between 20 and 30, and the smallest-check sponsors replied better than diamonds once the agent wrote their decks: deep first-party data pays exactly where vendors cannot see [1]. SaaStr now [runs eight-figure revenue on three humans and 21-plus agents](https://ontargetish.com/news/saastr-runs-monaco-artisan-agentforce-but-built-custom-abm-tool-anyway), growth having moved from negative 19% to positive 47% year over year [6]. Artisan won the volume and lost the crown jewels in one post.

## Salesforce meters both sides of the stack

The sharper signal is cost. Lemkin warns that Salesforce will meter agent API calls in Flex Credits, and 10K already fires about 35,000 Salesforce calls a day [1]. Salesforce [lists Flex Credits at $500 per 100,000](https://www.salesforce.com/agentforce/pricing/), each action metered individually at 20 credits, roughly a dime apiece [7].

JPMorgan [counts about half of agent-specific Agentforce bookings as customers rebuying credits](https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/salesforce-customers-are-burning-through-ai-credits-and-that-s-great-news-for-revenue/ar-AA2bqcph) they exhausted, a stream CRM investors are paid to love and every AI SDR vendor pays to serve [8]. The rest of SaaStr's funnel splits four ways: Agentforce runs win-back at 72% open rates, the Qualified inbound agent closed $2M+ in the past year, and Monaco booked a meeting at [Anthropic](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/anthropic) on day one [1]. The receipt is real; the exclusivity is not.

## The Q4 rule: buy volume, build where the data is

The Q4 decision rule is already written: buy the volume layer, build where first-party data is the differentiator [1]. Then watch Artisan's next disclosed customer numbers, Salesforce's Dreamforce investor day, JPMorgan's named catalyst [8], and which of the four vendors 10K replaces [1]. The stack holds; where the margin lands is the open question.

## Takeaway

The rare named receipt of AI SDR revenue, with the ceiling in the same post: vendors keep the volume, the best accounts build in-house, and Salesforce meters every agent action.
