# Salesforce and Microsoft AI agents now draft contracts, but DocuSign's two distribution deals name no price

> DocuSign's agreement platform now runs inside Salesforce's agents and, as a plugin, inside Microsoft's new legal Copilot. The shares hit a 52-week high on two distribution deals that carry no disclosed price.

Contract work crossed into the AI agents this month, and the market paid [DocuSign](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/docusign) for it before anyone disclosed a price. Shares of DocuSign (Nasdaq: DOCU) rose about 9% after [the October 13 announcement](https://finance.yahoo.com/technology/ai/articles/docusign-salesforce-launch-intelligent-agreement-150000191.html) that its Intelligent Agreement Management platform runs natively inside [Salesforce](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/salesforce)'s software, closing the week a step below their 52-week high [1][2]. The capability shift is real; the payment to DocuSign is still an assumption.

## The contract work really is moving to the agents

In Agentforce, Salesforce's agent platform, a seller can ask for a contract in conversation and send it from the same screen; in Slack, Salesforce's chat tool, a team can pull live customer and pricing data, apply approved terms and route the draft to legal in one thread [1][4]. Three days later [Microsoft](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/microsoft) [shipped Copilot for Legal, a set of more than 20 skills](https://www.globallegalpost.com/news/microsoft-targets-legal-ai-market-with-launch-of-specialist-copilot-tools-311025839) that draft agreements, propose redlines in Word's tracked changes and track obligations across contracts [5]. Microsoft's own senior counsel says Copilot now handles his first-pass review in minutes [5]. Drafting and review are becoming agent calls rather than person-hours.

## The platform that runs the agent keeps the customer

One level up, the money changes hands. When an agent owns the workflow, the platform running it owns the customer, the interface and the price; the rest becomes a service the agent calls. DocuSign saw this coming, [opening its agreement server to every AI agent in September](https://www.nasdaq.com/press-release/docusign-agreement-layer-agentic-enterprise-coming-every-agent-2026-09-04), with CEO Allan Thygesen calling it "the essential agreement layer for any platform's agent" [7]. Its two newest distribution channels, though, are the platforms building that work themselves: Agentforce generates the contract, Copilot drafts and reviews it, and DocuSign enters Microsoft's stack as one plugin partner among many, supplying the e-signature [5][6]. [OpenAI, Anthropic and Google all shipped their own legal-agent moves this year](https://theinference.org/article/openai-trained-gpt-6-at-ironclad-docusign-s-rival-docusign-opened-its-platform-to-every-ai) [5]. Neither DocuSign nor Salesforce has said what customers will pay, or how many use both [4].

## The receipts have not arrived

DocuSign's [revenue has grown in single digits for ten straight quarters](https://www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?action=getcompany&CIK=0001261333) [9]. The July quarter's 9.4% was the fastest of them [3].

*Chart: **Ten straight quarters of single-digit growth** Line chart of DocuSign quarterly revenue across ten quarters, rising from about $710 million to $876 million.*

*Quarterly revenue in USD millions from DocuSign's SEC filings; labels follow the year of each quarter's end, and the latest quarter ended July 31, 2026. Year-over-year growth ran between 7.0% and 9.4% throughout. [9]*

The shares now sit above [the $71.00 average analyst target Zacks tracks](https://www.ad-hoc-news.de/boerse/news/nebenwerte/zacks-cites-usd-71-00-average-target-for-docusign-stock/70332736) [3]. They trade at 47 times trailing earnings, well above their five-year norm [8]. [Insiders sold $23.1 million of stock over the past year with no reported buying](https://www.gurufocus.com/news/9126792/a-look-at-docusign-inc-docu-after-30-gain-gf-value-7647-vs-price-7752) [8]. DocuSign reports on December 3, and a deal announced mid-quarter with no disclosed price cannot carry that print [3][4].

*Chart: **The shares already sit above the target and the model value** Bar chart: DocuSign's share price of $77.52 stands above the $71.00 average analyst target Zacks tracks and GuruFocus's $76.47 GF Value estimate.*

*DocuSign's share price on October 15 against the $71.00 average analyst target Zacks tracks and GuruFocus's $76.47 GF Value, in US dollars. The stock's 9% announcement-week pop carried it past both. Sources: Zacks data via ad-hoc-news; GuruFocus. [3][8]*

Agents writing the contracts is the settled part. Who collects for the work is the wager, and a 52-week-high price has already been paid for the answer.

## Takeaway

DocuSign now runs inside Salesforce's agents and Microsoft's legal Copilot, but neither distribution deal has a disclosed price, and the stock's 52-week high has already priced in the answer.
