# Vertiv rose 7% on Nvidia's 14-day AI factory design, but 17 partners including Eaton build the same box

> Nvidia's DSX POD standard, unveiled at GTC Berlin, cuts AI factory deployment to as little as 14 days and helped end Vertiv's record 11-session losing streak. But Eaton, Schneider Electric and 14 other partners build the same box, and the October 28 backlog print prices what sharing it costs.

## The losing streak broke on Nvidia's stage

[Vertiv](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/vertiv), the Ohio maker of power and cooling gear for data centers, rose more than 7% to $218.98 in early trading on October 21, valuing it near $84.3 billion [1]. The gain ended 11 straight down sessions, the longest losing streak in the stock's history [2][1][7]. The spark was [Nvidia's DSX POD design, unveiled at GTC Berlin that morning](https://nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/nvidia-introduces-dsx-pod-ai-factories-to-accelerate-europes-infrastructure-deployment) [2], though wires also credited strong [SpaceX](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/spacex) and [Super Micro](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/super-micro) results from the night before [1][7].

## A modeled 30 percent on a blueprint 17 firms share

DSX POD is a reference design for whole factories built around [Nvidia](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/nvidia)'s coming Vera Rubin AI systems: partners assemble and validate the units in containers, and Nvidia says a prepared site goes from six months of installation to as little as 14 days, with deliveries from early 2027 [2].

Vertiv's added math: pre-engineered designs configured in a Dassault Systèmes virtual twin, then factory-built modules, cut design plus deployment from about 120 days to 48, [worth up to 30% more cumulative token output in year one at the same installed capacity](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/vertiv-targets-up-to-30-more-cumulative-ai-token-output-in-first-12-months-using-nvidia-dsx-polar-deploys-approach-at-norway-site-302915397.html) [3][7]. All of it is modeled, none is measured in a running plant, and none converts directly into Vertiv revenue [3][7].

Polar Data Centers is applying the approach to the first 41 megawatts of its Herøya campus in Norway, scalable to 100 megawatts [3]. The standard also arms Vertiv's rivals: Nvidia names 17 builders, among them [Eaton](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/eaton) and Schneider Electric, its direct competitors in power and cooling, and [Johnson Controls is engineering Armada's planned 500 megawatts on the same design](https://www.comparethecloud.net/news/armada-plans-500mw-of-factory-built-ai-capacity-with-johnson-controls-on-nvidias-dsx-pod-design) [2][4][9]. ## October 28 prices what sharing costs

[The rally landed on a week of cuts with no downgrades](https://theinference.org/article/four-analysts-cut-vertiv-s-target-in-a-week-none-downgraded-the-oct-28-backlog-decides-the-argument): RBC to $323, Mizuho to $280, [Morgan Stanley](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/morgan-stanley) to $330, all ratings kept, while [Bank of America](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/bank-of-america) held $375, and only GLJ Research, at Sell with $188, sits below the market [6][7]. The bull case is the multiple: near $206, Vertiv traded around 26 times forward earnings, in line with Eaton and far below [GE Vernova](https://theinference.org/markets/companies/ge-vernova) at 44 [6].

Vertiv reports before the open on October 28, [guided to $898 million to $938 million of adjusted operating profit on sales of $3.65 billion to $3.85 billion](https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/vertiv-stock-fell-15-last-031546179.html), with consensus profit already above the midpoint [6]. Its backlog ended 2025 at $15 billion, more than double a year earlier [1].

*Chart: **Vertiv guides to its biggest quarter yet, 40% above a year earlier and up from $1.6B two years ago** Eleven columns of Vertiv quarterly revenue from $1.64 billion in Q1 2024 to $3.27 billion in Q2 2026, with the Q3 2026 guide drawn as an estimate at $3.75 billion and highlighted in colour.*

The token claim is modeled. The backlog is booked. Whichever the 7% was pricing, October 28 settles it.

## Takeaway

Nvidia's DSX POD standard ended Vertiv's record losing streak with a 14-day AI factory story, but 17 partners including Eaton and Schneider Electric build the same box, and the October 28 backlog print decides whether the design is a moat or a shared commodity.
