About
The money behind AI, from the documents, with receipts.
How we work
We use AI where it is fast and people where judgment matters. AI scans filings and the news to suggest topics and writes first drafts. Our editors decide which topics we cover, rewrite and fact-check each draft, format it and review it before it is published. A separate model also checks every key number and quote against the saved source documents, and a story that fails that check is not published.
Every story lists the documents it relies on, linked to the source. Our indices are built from company filings and market prices, and each one publishes its methodology.
Who we are
The Inference exists so that anyone can take part in AI investing with the same information professionals use. We cover who pays for the chips, the power and the models behind artificial intelligence, and who carries the risk. We report from primary documents: SEC filings, regulatory filings and company disclosures.

What we don't do
- No ads, sponsored stories or affiliate links.
- No paid coverage. Companies never pay to be covered.
- No investment advice or price targets. We explain what the documents say; the decisions are yours.
- Our staff don’t trade a stock we are about to write about, from 72 hours before publication to 24 hours after.
- No anonymous sources. If we can’t link to a document, we don’t state it as fact.
When we're wrong
Every correction is dated and listed in our corrections log. If you find a factual error in a published story, we’ll pay you $50 and credit you in the log, unless you’d rather we didn’t.
Our track record
Coming soon: a public scorecard of every forward-looking claim we make, such as a deadline, a vote or a forecast in a filing, with its outcome once it is known.
For Reddit and forum moderators
We share a story in a forum only when we think it adds something for that community, and only within its rules. We post by hand and always say that we publish the site. If you’d rather we didn’t post in your community, email contact@theinference.org and we’ll stop.
How we're funded
The Inference is funded by reader donations. Companies never pay for coverage, and no donation changes what we publish.
