1. What we collect

We keep data collection minimal. If you subscribe to the brief, we store the email address you give us. If you email the desk, we keep that correspondence.

We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which stories resonate. We do not sell your data.

2. Reader comments

Comments you post are stored on our servers and shown publicly beside the article, under the name on your account. Your email address is never shown. You can delete your own comments at any time; deleting erases the text.

3. Third-party features

The “Translate” feature deep-links to Google Translate; the “Listen” feature uses your browser's built-in speech engine; sharing uses the target platform's own dialog. When you use these, the respective third party's privacy policy applies.

4. Confidential tips

If you contact us as a source, we protect your identity to the extent the law allows. See our tips guide for how to reach us safely.

5. Your choices

You can unsubscribe from the brief at any time using the link in any email, or by writing to contact@theinference.com. You may ask us to delete the data we hold about you.

6. Contact

Questions about privacy? Email contact@theinference.com and the editor will respond.
