Check Point rents its firewall monthly from November 1 and reports earnings November 2

Firewall-as-a-Subscription turns the Israeli vendor's appliance-and-license business into a three-year monthly fee aimed at buyers whose security budgets froze. The quarterly report due one day after launch, which analysts expect to shrink, is the first test of what the model does to revenue.

The appliance becomes a monthly bill

From November 1, 2026, Check Point Software+0.29% — Check Point Software, up 0.29 percent today Technologies (Nasdaq: CHKP), the Israeli vendor that built its name selling firewall appliances with licenses, rents the stack instead.

One monthly or annual fee covers Force firewall hardware, the AI Network Firewall shipped in the R82.20 software release on July 30, 2026, SandBlast threat prevention (a claimed 99.9% block rate against zero-day attacks, the company's own figure), live updates, and agentic management, meaning AI agents running policy from the cloud 12.

The term runs three years, throughput can be upgraded at any time, new hardware arrives after 36 months, and services credits cover migrating policies off a rival's firewall 13.

Frozen budgets meet multiplying AI traffic

The target is a buyer who cannot get capital. The IANS Research and Artico Search 2026 benchmark, cited by Check Point, found the median security budget did not grow this year, 55% of chief information security officers saw budgets flat or fall, and of the 64% who asked for more, only 45% received it 1.

Meanwhile AI multiplies what every network must inspect: Check Point Research counts at least one high-risk generative-AI interaction a month at 87 to 93% of organizations, and one in 25 prompts now carries sensitive data, double a year ago 2.

The gain, and the exposure, are both Check Point's

Blocked refreshes become billable deals, and the managed-service-provider channel gets another bundle to resell: about 7,000 partners now transact monthly, up from roughly 1,000 in early 2023, serving close to 100,000 end customers 4. The exposure is Check Point's own: it fronts the hardware and recovers it across 36 months 5. Second-quarter revenue grew 1.3% year over year, the slowest in three years, operating margin fell to 27.5%, and deferred revenue, contracted money not yet booked as revenue, grew 7% 5.

A shrinking quarter is the first test

The September-quarter report expected on November 2, one day after launch, is forecast to show revenue of $672.51 million, down 0.7%, on earnings of $2.49 a share, down 36.8% 6. The bull case sits in the mix: Simply Wall St's model credits the newer pillars, SASE (cloud-delivered secure access) and AI security, with annual recurring revenue growth above 40%, and still prices the shares about 9% below the market 7.

The market being monetized is so new that IT-Harvest sized it near $30 million last year while 360iResearch projects $260 million for 2026 8. The buyer's frozen capex line just moved onto the seller's balance sheet.

The November 2 filing shows whether that money arrives as recognized revenue, or only as deferred revenue.
