Johnson Controls sells its DSC and Qolsys alarm brands to Truelink Capital at an undisclosed price
The buyer, Truelink Capital, is taking the DSC and Qolsys alarm brands from Johnson Controls for the second carve-out it has bought from the same seller, at an undisclosed price, one day before JCI's record-backlog print sent the stock up 5.10% to lead the S&P 500.

Johnson Controls+4.05% — Johnson Controls, up 4.05 percent today agreed on October 26, 2026, to sell its global intrusion products business, the alarm panels and sensors behind the DSC, Qolsys, PowerG, Visonic, Bentel and Sur-Gard brands, to Truelink Capital, a Los Angeles private equity firm managing over $4.3 billion 1. No price was disclosed, and the close is not expected until the first half of 2027 1. The undisclosed figure matters because when it surfaces it will be the first hard mark on what a global dealer-channel hardware franchise is worth, and JCI shareholders own what is being sold 1.
The business traces to 1973, came to Johnson Controls with the 2016 Tyco merger, and JCI disclosed when it bought out Qolsys in 2020 that the unit generated $500 million of revenue in fiscal 2019 26. That is roughly 2% of the $25.7 billion JCI just reported for fiscal 2026, but it owns a dealer and installer channel across four continents that the data-center cooling machine does not 26.
One day before the print
The agreement landed one day before the Q4 print: sales of $7.1 billion, up 12% organically, adjusted EPS of $1.66 beating consensus by a penny, orders up 44%, and record backlog of $23.0 billion, up 43% 25. The Americas backlog of $17.8 billion jumped 54% on data-center demand 2. The one-day gap suggests JCI timed the disclosure so the sale would not shadow the numbers that drove the re-rating.
Americas backlog is five-sixths of the record $23.0 billion

The market paid up. JCI led the S&P 500 on October 27, up 5.10% to $147.50, a market cap of $89.35 billion, with price-to-sales of 3.65 near a ten-year high 4. Yet GuruFocus rates the stock 45.5% above its GF Value, insiders sold $26.2 million of shares over twelve months against $1.0 million bought, and 12 of 13 tracked gurus trimmed 4. FY27 guidance of $6.15 to $6.30 adjusted EPS edged past the $6.13 consensus 25.
Second time buying from this seller
Truelink has bought from this seller before, taking Air Distribution Technologies off JCI's hands in 2024, and it flagged strategic add-on acquisitions this time too; its existing portfolio includes Prime Electric, an electrical contractor selling intrusion and fire alarm services 16. JCI sheds a channel-hardware franchise to a repeat buyer, keeps the data-center backlog, and the buyer's eventual exit price will reveal what the franchise fetched 16. The first reading comes sooner: JCI's filings must carry the transaction terms before the deal closes in the first half of 2027 1.
The counterpoint
JCI calls this portfolio simplification, and the record supports the label: the residential and light commercial HVAC sale to Bosch in 2025 was valued at $8.1 billion overall, with JCI's portion approximately $6.7 billion, and a $500-million-revenue hardware unit is small next to a $23 billion backlog growing 43% 26. A disclosed price could yet vindicate the seller. Until it appears, the market is pricing the data-center pure-play while nobody has counted what was traded away.
