How the B200 rental price is built
Methodology version gpu-2. List date Oct 8, 2026.
This index
The index is the price to rent one GPU of the class for an hour, on demand, in US dollars. Prices are read every hour from the published price lists of hyperscale clouds and GPU cloud providers, and from the live offers on GPU rental marketplaces.
Each class is a single product: the H100 and H200 in their SXM form, the B200 in HGX systems, and the A100 with 80 GB of memory in its SXM form. PCIe, NVL and lower-memory parts are excluded, as are spot, interruptible and reserved prices.
Each provider contributes one price, the median of its on-demand offers for the class. A marketplace's offers are first reduced to one price per host, and a marketplace counts only with at least three hosts.
The hourly value is a weighted trimmed mean of the providers' prices: the cheapest and the most expensive quarter of the weight are set aside and the middle half is averaged by weight. GPU cloud providers carry 65% of the weight, marketplaces 20% and hyperscale clouds 15%, each group's weight split evenly among its providers. Hyperscale list prices run two to four times the rest of the market and are rarely what their capacity sells at, so they are weighted least. A single provider's move shifts the index by at most twice its share of the weight times the move.
A provider's price that moves more than 25% from its last accepted price is held back, and enters the index only once the same level has been read three times in a row: a real price change arrives a few hours late, a one-off error never. A provider not read for a day drops out until it is read again.
An hour with fewer than five providers has no value. The daily close is the median of the UTC day's hourly values, published once the day has at least twelve of them.
An hour's value is recomputed as that hour's prices arrive and is final six hours later; a daily close is final two days after the day.
Values before the list date are a back-test, not prices we collected: an independent daily index of on-demand GPU rental prices, scaled by one fixed factor per class so that it meets this index on the list date. They show how the market moved, at this index's level. The H200 has no back-test; its history begins on the list date.
