Agents write the app, Glide keeps the software

Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor can now build and edit business apps inside Glide, and since October 19 agent-made changes trigger the same workflows as human ones. The pricing marks where Glide thinks value settles when agents write code: with the layer that runs it.

An agent build session inside GlideOS: the agent asks what the app should prioritize while the app it is writing already runs on Glide's hosting, data and permissions.

Glide has opened its rebuilt platform to other companies' AI agents: any MCP client, from the chat clients Claude and ChatGPT to the coding agent Cursor, can sign in at the public endpoint mcp.glideapps.dev/mcp and build apps, query data and ship workflows inside the seven-year-old no-code builder, now reborn as the AI platform GlideOS 123.

Anthropic built the pipe, Glide priced the gate

MCP, the open standard Anthropic$350B — Anthropic, private, latest valuation $350B introduced in late 2024 for connecting AI agents to outside systems, has become the default way agents reach external software 23. The agent feature starts at $125 a month on the Pro plan, and that gate is the bet: once an agent can draft an app, Glide is pricing its value in the layer that hosts and runs the software 4.

Since October 19 the pieces connect 5. A workflow now starts the moment a row is added, updated or deleted, and a change made by the customer's own agent over MCP counts like any other 5. The chain is short: the agent writes the app, Glide runs it, and the running is what bills.

Tokens bill to Anthropic, credits bill to Glide

The split is explicit. Reasoning runs on the Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor$30B — Cursor, private, latest valuation $30B subscription the customer already pays for; Glide's credits cover what happens underneath, the hosting, database, permissions and automations 1. Below Pro the feature does not exist: Basic is $25 and Plus is $50 4. Glide's summary of the arrangement: "Your agent is replaceable. Your software is not." 1

October also shipped what a business needs before it lets an agent near its operations: an audit log recording who changed what, four member roles, guest access for outsiders, branded sign-in screens, 42 changes in all 56. This is the work that turns an agent's output into software a company can still run next year.

No-code was repriced in October, and Glide is the counter-case

The backdrop is last month's repricing of the category. Bending Spoons+5.74% — Bending Spoons, up 5.74 percent today, which listed on Nasdaq in July, agreed in August to pay $1.28 billion in cash for Airtable$1.285B — Airtable, private, latest valuation $1.285B and is cutting a large part of its staff; as we reported, the price clears only if a fraction of the people who built the product can run it 7.

Recode reports that small and mid-sized businesses increasingly build internal tools in Glide rather than in Bubble, a rival no-code app builder, and Glide says its original product has served more than 100,000 businesses over seven years 83.

The test is live, but not yet tradable

The threat Glide is answering is stated by the founders building MCP infrastructure: software without an agent surface risks becoming a "system of record" that agents merely query, while Anthropic and OpenAI$1.18T — OpenAI, private, latest valuation $1.18T bet their chat products become the primary interface through which people use software 2. Glide's move is to be the place agents build into rather than the database they read from.

The listed expression of this question is the opposite bet: Bending Spoons is buying installed bases on the assumption that far fewer people can run them 7. Glide's answer, if it works, shows up in Pro upgrades and credit burn, which the company does not disclose 4. The position is worth marking anyway. When any agent can draft an app, the durable revenue belongs to whoever keeps the software running, permissioned and recoverable after the agent that wrote it is gone.

UiPath picks the invoice as its unit of AI billing

At FUSION Dubai, UiPath said customers of its new finance agents will pay "price per item times items processed" from early 2027. The unit is named and the price is not, and that missing number is what the PATH tape is arguing about.

Snowflake shipped AI spending caps as a 13% drop priced in Amazon's and Oracle's capex

The company that bills customers by consumption published its first agent counts and shipped the caps that stop runaway agent bills. Investors spooked by other people's AI capex took the stock down 13% in a week, three weeks before a December 2 report.

Microsoft's Copilot now fronts MongoDB's data as insiders sell $66.8 million and buy nothing

The Atlas connector for Microsoft 365 Copilot went generally available on November 3, making MongoDB the plumbing under a competitor's assistant. Revenue is growing 30%, but the interim chief executive sold $15.3 million of stock and no insider has bought in six months, so the discount is not the buy it looks like.

Snowflake named Glean a Cortex AI Gateway customer; Glean launched a rival context layer the same day

On November 3, Snowflake named Glean a customer of its new agent-governance gateway while Glean launched the independent context layer outside it, and Glean's own private shares sit 36% below where they were a year ago. The question is who collects the enterprise spend on making agents understand the business.

Datadog grew revenue 35%, beat every line, and still lost 11% on a flat December guide

A 35% growth quarter and an 81-cent beat could not survive a December outlook of flat revenue at a thinner margin. The unnamed AI whale that renewed a nine-figure contract and then cut its usage is the number doing the damage.
