Figma opens its canvas to Claude Code and Cursor as growth slows from 48% to 36%
Options price a 13% move on the November 4 report as growth is guided to slow from 48% to about 36%. The quiet week before the print was Figma answering, in public, the two questions that decide its stock.

Developers are skipping the canvas
A thread that drew 182 upvotes on r/webdev describes developers who stopped using Figma+4.27% — Figma, up 4.27 percent today and now generate interface code straight into production with paid AI "skill packs", prompt bundles and repositories sold by the bundle 1. The poster's evidence is the output: a landing page, a settings page and a dashboard that look like three different products, no design system holding them together. That is the defection camp in miniature, and it is the buyer Figma most needs to keep.
The print prices a 13% move
Figma reports its third quarter after the close on November 4, and options pricing implies the stock can move about 13% on the release 2. The stakes are concrete: second-quarter revenue was $370.1 million, up 48.2% year over year 3, but the company's own outlook points down, implying about 36% growth for the third quarter on a full-year forecast near $1.46 billion 4.
At the October 29 close the business carried a market value near $11.9 billion, about 8 times forward sales, below the $20 billion Adobe+1.29% — Adobe, up 1.29 percent today agreed to pay for it in 2022 before regulators killed that deal 4.
Figma's answer: let the agents in
At Config India on October 15, Figma added 20 partners to its Model Context Protocol server, the open standard that lets outside AI agents read and write inside a Figma file, pulling real auto-layout rules and component variants instead of guessing from a screenshot 5. Supported clients now include Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code and Codex 5. Chief executive Dylan Field shipped the bet while flagging the flaw, calling MCP "not a perfect protocol" 5.
The margin answer is a small model
The engineering blog makes the cost case: an earlier Llama 3.3 70B fine-tuned on more than 250,000 examples matched top frontier models on design edits, and Figma now post-trains Qwen 3.8 27B with reinforcement learning 6. Its own model powers more than double the share of agent work, and average cost per message has fallen 6. The agent shipped to all users runs tasks about 20% faster than beta, and users undo its work 60% less often 6.
Growth peaked at 48% in June; the November quarter is guided to 36%

The street says hold
Rothschild Redburn launched coverage at Neutral with a $23 target, citing "prompt-to-code tools like Vercel's v0 and Replit$9.40B — Replit, private, latest valuation $9.40B Agent" and limited cash generation after stock-based compensation 7. The street sits at 6 Buy, 14 Hold, 0 Sell 7. Canva, near $60 billion in private valuation and roughly $4 billion in annual recurring revenue, is running the closed-model counter-bet from inside its own walls 5. Figma's wager is that agents are interchangeable, the canvas is not.

What November 4 decides
Growth holding near 40% with margin progress strengthens the cheap-grower read; growth sliding to the low 30s or below means the defection camp priced the quarter right 4. Watch the gross margin, 83.7% last quarter 3, and how much of the growth AI credits carry.
