One buyer was 73% of Bloom Energy's record quarter. Tonight's report has to repeat it

Bloom Energy reports Q3 after the close with consensus at $1.05 billion of revenue, up 102%. Its own filings show the record quarter leaned on one buyer, a one-time tariff recovery worth about 3.5 points of gross margin and a warranty reserve that nearly quadrupled, while Oracle's flagship fuel-cell campus fights for its air permit.

Bloom Energy chief executive KR Sridhar in a CNBC interview. Bloom reports Q3 2026 results after the close on October 22.

Bloom Energy−5.84% — Bloom Energy, down 5.84 percent today, whose fuel cells power AI campuses for Oracle−1.61% — Oracle, down 1.61 percent today and American Electric Power+1.57% — American Electric Power, up 1.57 percent today (AEP), reports third-quarter results after the close today, October 22, 2026 1. Analysts expect $1.05 billion of revenue, up 102% from $519.1 million a year earlier, and 68 cents a share; Bloom has beaten both measures for seven straight quarters 1.

The stock closed October 21, 2026, at $238.53, up 174.5% for the year and still 31% below its June record, priced at about 22.6 times trailing sales 2. Nancy and Paul Pelosi disclosed a purchase of 15,000 shares plus 200 call options struck at $100, expiring June 17, 2027 1.

The Inference priced this premium on Oracle's 2.45-gigawatt New Mexico campus a day ago 2910. What has entered the record since: the Energy News Beat filings audit 2, Oracle's force-majeure notice of September 24 9 and its October 15 offer to cut permitted emissions by about 35% 10.

The filings tell a tighter story than the release

Second-quarter revenue was $1.065 billion, up 165.5%, with $182.2 million of operating income, and management raised 2026 revenue guidance to $3.9–4.2 billion 3. Underneath: a single unrelated customer was 73% of that quarter's revenue, a figure Bloom corrected in an amended filing on July 29, 2026, after transposing its three- and six-month columns 5. The filing itself defines a "customer" as a counterparty that "may be a project-finance affiliate rather than the ultimate end user" 4.

Short seller Hunterbrook, which is short the stock, put Brookfield-linked ventures at 74% of fourth-quarter 2025 revenue, $574 million of $778 million 6. Accrued warranty jumped from $20.0 million to $77.8 million in six months, including a $58.3 million specific reserve, with $4.6 million of guarantee costs tied to "fleet degradation" and $468.9 million of capped exposure left 4. A $37.4 million tariff recovery also sat in the quarter, worth about 3.5 points of gross margin 24.

Cleaner than a turbine, average beside the grid

On natural gas, which Bloom's annual report says fuels most of the fleet, a server emits 679–833 pounds of CO2 per megawatt-hour against a US grid average of 767 27. The fuel mix has gone undisclosed since 2018, when biogas was about 9%, and the 30% investment tax credit restored in 2025 applies, in Bloom's words, "regardless of the level of emissions" 2. That gas-fired fleet carries a market value of about $70 billion 2.

Demand evidence on one side, Monday's permit hearing on the other

The bull case rests on demand. Chief executive KR Sridhar said in July that all major US hyperscalers had validated the product 3; AEP plans about $4 billion for a 702-megawatt fuel-cell plant serving Google in Wyoming 8; and banks lifted price targets into the print, from $240 at Truist+1.17% — Truist, up 1.17 percent today to $351 at Baird 1.

The risk sits in New Mexico. Oracle sent a force-majeure notice on September 24 for the 2,462-megawatt Project Jupiter microgrid, a contractual claim that events outside its control excuse it from its obligations 9. Its gas pipeline has slipped to February 2027, and the developer's attorney warned that delays could cost about $325 million a month from November 9.

The air permit faces a dismissal hearing on Monday

The Inference reported the trucked-gas workaround on October 9 10. Oracle has since offered to cut permitted emissions about 35%, from 8.8 million to 5.7 million tons a year 10. A hearing on a motion to dismiss the air permit, filed by New Energy Economy, a Santa Fe environmental group, opens Monday October 26 after revised modeling roughly doubled projected pollutant concentrations while staying within EPA limits; the state's decision deadline is November 23 11.

Tonight, check three lines: gross margin before the tariff recovery against non-GAAP gross-margin guidance of about 34% 3, the warranty accrual, and the customer table.

DTE asks Michigan regulators for $6.4 billion in gas; Sierra Club says AI data centers drive it

DTE's 20-year plan asks for 2.1 gigawatts of gas at an estimated $6.4 billion, more than double what its 2023 coal-retirement deal called for, and Earthjustice says data centers drive the gap. The commission already wrote a make-Google-pay template; whether it applies it to the gas plants decides who earns and who pays.

CATL bought back RMB800 million as shares fell 11.41%; a 2% battery tax lifts its tax bill to RMB2.21 billion

The world's largest battery maker bought back RMB800 million of its own shares on October 21, into an 11.41% fall, and lost 4% more the next day. The cause, a 2% battery tax CATL cannot yet pass on to carmakers, has one month booked; gross margin is already the lowest since 2022.

Kinder Morgan's backlog jumped half in one quarter to a record $14.4 billion

Record profit and two project approvals took the pipeline company's expansion backlog to $14.4 billion, half again its June level, with two new lines carrying more than 5 billion cubic feet of gas a day for power demand, one of them for an unnamed A-rated hyperscaler. The contracts are signed now; the gas flows in 2030.
