Smith came to Parsons from Honeywell Aerospace, where she was president of its Defense and Space business, according to Crunchbase. She studied at Ohio Northern University and holds the CERT certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight. At Parsons she holds all three top posts: chair of the board, president and chief executive. Crunchbase lists her as based in Centreville, Virginia.
Her recent record at Parsons has been about margins as much as growth. In July 2026 Smith told investors that Parsons was preparing to leave two contracts in a remote location where staffing and supplies had become too expensive, in a quarter when the company recorded $1.9 billion of contract awards. Winning work, The Inference argued, has been easier for Parsons than keeping the profit on it.
The harder test came later. When the cut came, the company's release blamed a confidential fixed-price contract "canceled by the administration," a program Smith had already described on the November 5, 2025, earnings call as "in a wind-down state." The stock fell 35% in a day on a $15 million loss, and four law firms began probing what the company knew and when.
