Broadcom tops Anthropic's $895 billion compute bill and guarantees up to $72 billion of its debt

Anthropic's amended S-1 names Broadcom the biggest counterparty in $895.4 billion of compute commitments, and the only supplier guaranteeing the financing behind them. The same filing shows compute costs rising faster than revenue, and ARK sold the stock into the rout.

Cathie Wood's ARK Invest disclosed $437 million of trades on Friday, selling Broadcom while buying Nvidia, SpaceX, AMD and Alphabet.

Anthropic's$350B — Anthropic, private, latest valuation $350B amended S-1, filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on November 2, 2026, lists about $895.4 billion of purchase and lease commitments, substantially all of it compute and infrastructure, with $447.5 billion due before the end of 2030 1. Broadcom+1.05% — Broadcom, up 1.05 percent today and its financing entities hold roughly $161.2 billion of that as rent, excluding interest, on five-year master equipment leases Anthropic cannot cancel outside default 1. That is more than Google at $121.3 billion, SpaceX's+9.50% — SpaceX, up 9.50 percent today AI unit at up to $120.5 billion or Amazon−0.12% — Amazon, down 0.12 percent today at $110 billion 1.

The bill was blank in October, then nearly doubled

The first prospectus, on October 26, left the commitment total blank; the amendment filled it in at nearly double the roughly $518 billion circulating from a leaked draft 2. The Inference had already reported, on October 2, that Broadcom was shopping $42 billion of Anthropic chip debt to Wall Street 2.

What is new this week is the name at the top of the bill and the quarter underneath it. Broadcom fell 10.4% to $291.53 in the November 5 rout, and on Friday Cathie Wood's ARK Invest disclosed $437 million of trades: it bought Nvidia+3.65% — Nvidia, up 3.65 percent today, SpaceX, AMD+10.51% — AMD, up 10.51 percent today and Alphabet+1.01% — Alphabet, up 1.01 percent today, and sold Broadcom and CoreWeave+6.23% — CoreWeave, up 6.23 percent today 34.

The supplier became the guarantor

Broadcom also guarantees the money. It backs up to about $29 billion of leases behind the first financing tranche, and a company filing puts its maximum liability on a second, $63 billion package arranged with banks and Blackstone−0.27% — Blackstone, down 0.27 percent today, at about $43 billion 53.

Up to $72 billion of contingent payouts stand against $24.0 billion of cash, as of August 2, a risk Broadcom calls low 5. Its chief executive expects Anthropic to become "our largest XPU customer in 2027," Broadcom shorthand for custom AI processors 6. Broadcom sold the chips, then co-signed the loan that buys them.

The quarter that spooked the buyers

Third-quarter revenue was $16.956 billion, up 47% from the second quarter and 1,127% year on year, while compute and infrastructure expense rose 77%, from $5.558 billion to $9.863 billion 16. Anthropic blames $5.0 billion of short-term compute, which costs significantly more than multi-year capacity, plus $2.0 billion of non-cash donation-matching charges, for swinging a $974 million operating profit to a $567 million loss 2.

SaaStr founder Jason Lemkin said on the 20VC podcast that net new bookings fell from the second quarter to the third 5; the filing carries no bookings line, so that claim rests on his word.

Two paths for $161 billion of leases

If growth reaccelerates and the listing happens, IPO proceeds stand behind the leases and the guarantees stop mattering. The roadshow was set for the week of November 9; one prospective investor told The Wall Street Journal the valuation should fall closer to $1 trillion, down from the $2 trillion once discussed, and Reuters reports the start could slip 7.

If new business keeps shrinking, up to $72 billion of contingent payouts land on Broadcom's shareholders, not Anthropic's 5. The market is already partway there: 19 times forward earnings on November 2 against a five-year average of 24, before a week that took 9% off the stock 5.

December 9 settles it

Broadcom reports fiscal fourth-quarter results on December 9, 2026, when its AI revenue target of about $115 billion for fiscal 2027, up from $58 billion this year and headed for $230 billion in fiscal 2028, either holds or moves 5. Anthropic's October revenue, left blank in the filing, is the second reading 7. If the target stands, the orders held; if it moves, the guarantees stop being theoretical.

Penguin Solutions sells Cree LED for an undisclosed price as inventory near-triples to $749 million

Penguin Solutions paired a 68% sales quarter with a $167 million quarterly cash outflow, then agreed to sell Cree LED, its LED-chip segment, for cash at an undisclosed price. The company calls the sale a sharpened data center focus; the balance sheet suggests the cash also has work waiting, and January's fiscal Q1 report tests it.

AI and server revenue hit 20% of Alpha & Omega sales, but it still lost money

The company's fiscal first quarter shows AI and server revenue at a fifth of sales, from 5.5% a year ago, even as the PC base collapses and losses persist. December's guide is the falsifiable test of whether a mix shift becomes a profit story.

Motorola Solutions' memory bill of $150 million to $160 million could double in 2027, testing margin promises

The November 4 call put a number on it: the memory inside police radios cost about $150 million to $160 million this year and could double in 2027, just as management promises margins keep rising on its first 2027 revenue figure of about $14.25 billion.
