Fabrinet reports tonight on $1.4 billion as Innolight and Eoptolink blame floods, not fading AI orders

Fabrinet, the Thailand-based optical manufacturer, reports its fiscal first quarter after the US close on November 2, 2026, with consensus at $1.4 billion of revenue against its own $1.375 billion to $1.425 billion guidance. The Chinese filings behind the October 29 selloff blame a Thailand flood for the one ugly number and book 2027 orders as firm purchase orders.

On October 29, 2026, four Chinese makers of optical modules, the parts that carry data between AI servers, fell together: Zhongji Innolight−0.54% — Zhongji Innolight, down 0.54 percent today 8.5%, Eoptolink 11.1%, TFC Optical Communication 19.8%, Accelink 9.1% 1.

The market read the drop as fading North American AI orders, and a day later the fear crossed the Pacific: Coherent+2.23% — Coherent, up 2.23 percent today and Applied Optoelectronics, two US optical-parts makers, fell 13% and 15% after Alphabet+1.87% — Alphabet, up 1.87 percent today lost more than $500 billion of market value on Google's negative $9.1 billion quarterly cash burn 2.

Eoptolink's own filing looked like proof: September-quarter revenue down 13% from June while inventory rose 49%, pushing inventory days, how long stock sits unsold, from 144 to 225 1. Tonight the argument gets a dated test: Fabrinet+1.94% — Fabrinet, up 1.94 percent today, the Thailand-based contract manufacturer that assembles optical transceivers, reports its fiscal first quarter after the US close 3.

The filings answer with a flood

Innolight's September quarter argues the other way: revenue of RMB 27.77 billion, up 24.6% from June; inventory up 20.4% against operating cost up 24.2%; inventory days edging from 135 to 134 1. Piling up parts while shipments grow faster is not a backlog.

Eoptolink's 225 days is the one ugly line, and both companies, which build in Thailand, told investors on October 29 that late-September floods delayed finished-goods shipments: Eoptolink booked the delayed goods as October revenue, Innolight said early-October shipping was back to normal, and canceled orders do not resume 1. The weather record fits: on September 25, 2026, wind tore a factory roof off in Khlong 7, Pathum Thani, as officials raised red-flag flood warnings 4.

The harder money says 2027 is already booked

Prepayments, cash paid upstream to lock in DSPs (the signal-processing chip at the heart of each module) and lasers, rose from RMB 134 million to RMB 1.567 billion at Innolight since the start of the year, and from RMB 17 million to RMB 1.322 billion at Eoptolink 1. Both said major-customer orders already cover all of 2027, as firm purchase orders rather than demand guidance 1.

Prepayments to lock in chips and lasers grew tenfold or more at both makers in nine months

Eoptolink earned CNY 11.37 billion of net income in nine months, up 80%, on CNY 31.85 billion of sales 5, with third-quarter profit up 61.15% 6. The filings cannot settle everything: contract liabilities, customers' advance payments to the company, track only who prepays at all, telecom buyers do and North American cloud vendors do not, so they say nothing about order size 1.

And ChiNext, Shenzhen's tech-heavy benchmark, fell 11.9% from October 20 to 30, so part of the chain's drop was the market itself 1.

The test is made in Pathum Thani

Fabrinet's Pinehurst campus sits in Pathum Thani 7, the province under those flood warnings, and its quarter closed on September 25 8, the week the storm hit. Consensus for tonight is $1.4 billion of revenue, up 43.1%, on $4.19 of earnings per share 3, inside the company's own August 17 guidance of $1.375 billion to $1.425 billion 8.

Inventories had already reached $1.02 billion by June 26, up 76% in a year 8, the same stockpiling signature the Chinese filings show. The Inference reported the CEO pay gap and the 57% drawdown on October 23; tonight brings the first reported number since.

A figure below the $1.375 billion guidance floor hands the argument to the fading-orders camp and puts the November 4 and 5 earnings reports at risk; inside the guidance, the flood ledger holds and the October 29 selloff looks like a mistake.

Fabrinet's quarterly revenue has grown 74% in two years; tonight's consensus calls for $1.4B

Two readings will decide it

If Eoptolink's December-quarter revenue does not climb back above RMB 12.5 billion, its June-quarter level, the flood explanation fails and the 225 days must be reread as backlog 1. Coherent reports on November 4, Lumentum−10.53% — Lumentum, down 10.53 percent today and Applied Optoelectronics on November 5 9, and Lumentum's chief executive says his components are sold out through 2029 9. All three sell to the cloud customers Fabrinet builds for. Fabrinet's number arrives first.

Delta Electronics approved a Malaysian manufacturing base on October 28, one day after Thailand's data-center committee set stricter rules with new applications paused until early 2027, and its energy council has since put data centers in a higher-priced electricity class.
