monday.com priced AI agent credits at $0.01 each, and its managed AI business runs on headcount
At Elevate on October 28 it launched Frontier, a managed-services arm, and unified billing so every agent action draws on one credit pool. Its own worked example prices ten busy agents at $200 a month, while the revenue meant to carry the pivot is payroll.

The company's camp at Elevate, monday.com's+1.15% — monday.com, up 1.15 percent today customer and investor event in New York, says AI adoption fails without people, so it announced monday Frontier, an organization combining managed services and deployment engineers to launch customer AI projects, to be scaled through 2027 1. Co-CEO Eran Zinman told theCUBE the bottleneck is not the technology: "Eventually companies want to see return on investment. Tokens cost a lot of money" 2. His evidence that enterprises need hand-holding: agent adoption runs three times higher among enterprise customers than among small and midsize businesses 1.
Brokers cut the stock before the first AI number arrives
The other camp wants two things monday.com has not published: a predictable consumption bill and a number for what AI earns.
JPMorgan cut the stock to Neutral at $87 on September 29 and Barclays−3.55% — Barclays, down 3.55 percent today cut it to Equal Weight at $100 on October 12, while BofA−2.19% — BofA, down 2.19 percent today raised its target to $105 from $95 on October 23 and kept a Neutral rating 4. Shares closed October 28 at $97.82, down 33.71% this year 4, against a 52-week high of $210.49 5. A October 30 Inference piece put a first number on the agent threat to software seats and found Workday's+1.21% — Workday, up 1.21 percent today meter not yet billing; what is new since is monday.com's unified credit pool and Frontier, both announced on October 28 10.
The company stopped its own work for a week to test the pitch
Under a program called Customer Zero, monday.com halted normal work for a week and set every employee to building agents. That produced more than 3,600 agents, and about 2,000 are still running, Zinman said 2.
The meter, priced by the company itself
Billing is now unified, so every agent action, AI column and workflow draws from one credit pool 1. A credit lists at $0.01 on annual billing, and an intermediate agent task costs 50 to 150 credits, a complex one 150 to 250 3.

|---|---|---|---|

| Worked example task | 100 | 100 | 0.0% |
| Complex task | 150 | 250 | +66.7% |
monday.com's own worked example: ten agents running one 100-credit task every weekday for 20 days is 20,000 credits, worth $200 on annual billing or $250 monthly, though purchased allocations and discounts mean that is not necessarily an extra invoice 3. New customers buy credits alongside seats, with minimum monthly allocations from 1,000 on Basic to 3,000 on Pro 3.
HPE already rations the meter by group
At Hewlett Packard Enterprise−6.23% — Hewlett Packard Enterprise, down 6.23 percent today, which builds no-code apps on monday.com, administrators pace the rollout by training users first and giving groups separate credit allotments so teams do not "go wild, wild west on it," said Kate Kenner, capability and community lead for strategic sourcing and planning at HPE 8.
The revenue meant to replace seats is paid headcount
That pattern runs across the industry. Cognizant+3.97% — Cognizant, up 3.97 percent today committed more than 25,000 professionals to an OpenAI delivery group 6. Manhattan Associates+3.13% — Manhattan Associates, up 3.13 percent today reported 28% cloud revenue growth and delivers its agents through forward-deployed engineers 7. Headcount is a cost line before it is a revenue line.
And the number that would prove the pivot has never been broken out: monday.com does not report what the credit pool earns, and two of its headline AI features, Portfolio Risk Insights and AI Smart Assignment, consume no credits at all 3. Meanwhile the seat business the meter is meant to supplement has slowed: revenue rose 21.9% year over year in Q2 2026, against 38.2% in Q3 2023, the earliest quarter in the series 9.

The verdict watch
The last print beat anyway: Q2 revenue of $364.62 million and EPS of $1.48 both beat estimates, yet the third-quarter revenue guide issued August 10 missed views 45. Broker targets now scatter from JPMorgan's−1.74% — JPMorgan, down 1.74 percent today $87 to Needham's $125 around a $95.60 close, on a "Moderate Buy" consensus of $111.70 5.

The position: at $0.01 a credit the meter cannot carry a price-to-earnings ratio of 40.68 5, so exposure is trim rather than add until November 9, the first report since Frontier and the unified credits 2. The number that would change that call is a broken-out consumption or Frontier revenue line, which the company has never published. November 9 shows the first consumption disclosure since the credits were unified, and whether Frontier's headcount appears in operating expenses 52.
