ServiceNow made its Arc AI agent free with every major SKU; $1 billion AI book tests October 28

ServiceNow made Arc, its personal enterprise AI agent, free with every major SKU at GTC Berlin, while the AI Passport governance layer meant to monetize it has no date and no price. The October 28 Q3 report now tests whether the $1 billion AI book is net-new money or a relabel.

ServiceNow chairman and chief executive Bill McDermott. The company made its Arc AI agent free with every major SKU at NVIDIA's GTC conference in Berlin on October 21.

At NVIDIA's−3.74% — NVIDIA, down 3.74 percent today GTC conference in Berlin on October 21, ServiceNow+2.64% — ServiceNow, up 2.64 percent today put its new personal AI agent, Arc, into general availability and named the price: nothing 1. The launch release states Arc is "included at no additional cost with all Foundation, Advanced, and Prime SKUs," the subscription tiers most enterprise customers already buy 1. The software agent that plans work, writes code and acts across email, Teams and ServiceNow workflows is now a free feature of the renewal.

What ServiceNow intends to charge for is the layer around it. AI Passport is the attested credential the company's Super Intelligence Control Tower issues to each agent, so NVIDIA's OpenShell runtime and BlueField silicon can approve or block what the agent does, with revocations propagating in about one second 1. That layer "is expected to be available in a future release" 1. No date, no price. PYMNTS covered the NVIDIA expansion in three sentences; the stock barely moved, trading near $149.43 on the day 35.

The giveaway has a logic and a cost

Free agents give CIOs a reason to renew and upgrade SKUs while ServiceNow builds the billable governance layer underneath. But the margin under those renewals is thinning: 214 San Diego jobs have been cut in three rounds of layoffs this year, the latest 18 sales positions filed with California in October 6, and GAAP operating income fell 55% year over year in Q2, to $162 million on $3.99 billion of revenue 7.

Revenue kept accelerating even as operating income halved

The bet gets graded on October 28

AI annual contract value crossed $1 billion in Q2 and cRPO, contracted revenue due within 12 months, rose 21% to $13.2 billion; the stock trades at 33x forward earnings after a 42.8% three-month run, with the average analyst target of $154 implying about 3% upside 2. That multiple needs AI deals to be net-new contract value, not seats relabeled.

The strongest counterpoint comes from the channel. FUNDA's checks with ServiceNow partners and customers expect a 150-200 basis point beat on Q3 cRPO growth but put the AI Control Tower at discovery and pilot stage, with limited near-term revenue and a more meaningful driver only in 2027 4. If cRPO growth holds the 19.5-20% guide and AI ACV accelerates, the free-agent-plus-paid-governance model looks funded 4. If not, the giveaway reads as defensive discounting. Watch the October 28 print for both numbers 4.

Nvidia's free agent runtime covers the isolation Modal just priced at $15.75 billion

At GTC Berlin, Nvidia's partner conference, the company launched OpenShell, a free open-source runtime that contains, monitors and enforces AI agents, and named Modal's four closest rivals as integration partners. Six days earlier, Modal had priced its paid version of that isolation at $15.75 billion.

IBM's software grew 8%, but half came from Confluent's $11 billion deal and lapses in Q2 2027

IBM said more than four of software's nine points of growth were organic, after a flat spring. About half the segment's increase still matches what Confluent sold on its own before the $11 billion deal.

IBM's first quarter since OpenAI's 97.9% COBOL score: mainframe down 20%, billing software up 9%

IBM's first quarterly report since OpenAI's 97.9% COBOL translation score split the argument: mainframe hardware revenue fell 20%, but the software that bills banks to run decades-old transaction code grew 9%, and IBM raised its full-year cash-flow outlook.

MongoDB's Insiders Sold 99 Times in Six Months and Bought Nothing

Six months of SEC Form 4s show 99 open-market insider sales of MongoDB and zero buys, led by co-founder Dwight Merriman's $28.2 million. The same month the board paid $25 million to keep the interim CEO and CFO, and Fidelity added $493 million of stock.

Twilio's $1.07 billion profit was a one-time tax entry; four banks still raised price targets

Twilio's $1.07 billion second-quarter net profit rests on a one-time, non-cash tax entry, not on the $285 million its operations earned. Four banks raised price targets anyway, and the October 29 print will compare against the same distorted quarter.

Gumloop's browser clears CAPTCHAs as JPMorgan and Schwab block AI agents and Amazon sues Perplexity

Gumloop has spent the two weeks since October 6, 2026, hardening its Agent Browser past the web's anti-bot checks, just as JPMorgan Chase, Schwab, Yelp and Amazon pushed agents off the consumer web. The investor question is which route to agent access survives: the armed browser or the permissioned protocol.
