UWM Holdings, led by Mat Ishbia, is the largest mortgage lender in the United States by origination volume. In early October 2026 it moved to pull both Classic FICO and VantageScore 4.0 on every credit file and default to the stronger score, removing its 20-point VantageScore haircut, a move that pressures FICO's mortgage pricing moat.
