Murata walks away from phone and car capacitors to feed AI servers
Murata, the world's largest capacitor maker, has begun telling customers it will stop making some commodity and automotive MLCCs, freeing its factories for AI servers it dominates with Samsung Electro-Mechanics. TrendForce sees consumer-grade capacitor prices rising 25-30% in the fourth quarter as Yageo, Walsin and China's Viiyong absorb the orders the incumbents drop.
