Qnity Electronics, the DuPont spin-off, raised 2026 guidance while nine-month operating cash flow fell 17%
The DuPont spin-off delivered the 22% sales quarter the AI trade wanted and raised every line of 2026 guidance, but nine-month operating cash flow fell 17%, and the promised free cash flow now rides on fourth-quarter collections from customers who are about 80% Asia Pacific.

The beat the nervous AI trade wanted
Qnity Electronics−1.69% — Qnity Electronics, down 1.69 percent today, the chip-materials maker DuPont+0.61% — DuPont, up 0.61 percent today spun off on November 1, 2025, delivered its strongest quarter as a standalone company this morning, November 4, 2026 13. Net sales reached $1.556 billion, up 22%, with all of the 22% organic growth coming from volume, and gross margin of 47.8%, up about 270 basis points 13.
Adjusted earnings per share of $1.46 landed well above the $1.20 Wall Street wanted 4; GAAP EPS of $0.87 missed the $0.93 estimate 2. Chief executive Jon Kemp called it the tenth consecutive quarter of profitable growth 1. The stock rose 7.3% in premarket dealing at $127.62 8 and held a gain near 4% into the morning 5, a move Barron's read as relief for a nervous AI trade 4.
Every line of guidance moved up
Management raised full-year 2026 guidance on all four measures: net sales to $5.77–5.83 billion from $5.55–5.65 billion, adjusted operating EBITDA to $1.785–1.805 billion from $1.675–1.725 billion, adjusted EPS to $4.95–5.05 from $4.40–4.60, and adjusted free cash flow to $800–900 million from $600–700 million 61. The free cash flow raise is the biggest of the four, about 31% at the midpoint 61. That is the line to hold onto, because it is the one the cash flow statement has to fund.

The spin-off's bills ate the quarter
The GAAP column told the other story. Diluted earnings fell 14% to $0.87 and net income slipped to $196 million from $223 million 1. Three bills from independence did the damage: interest expense of $64 million against $14 million a year ago, transformation and integration charges of $53 million against $1 million, and other net expense of $39 million against $1 million 12. The open question, as GuruFocus framed it, is whether those items are truly transitional or a lasting drag on reported earnings 2.

The cash has not arrived
Nine-month operating cash flow fell 17% to $647 million while capital spending rose to $290 million, leaving $357 million of GAAP free cash flow through September 1. Every 2026 quarter has collected less cash than its year-ago counterpart 71. Receivables climbed to $1.237 billion from $992 million at year end and inventory to $775 million from $661 million 1: growth has gone out the door as unpaid invoices and stock on shelves, and Asia Pacific, about 80% of sales at $1.241 billion, holds the payment terms 3.

What the adjusted guide adds back
Adjusted free cash flow for the nine months was $607 million, $250 million above the GAAP figure, because the measure adds back cash spent on DuPont cost sharing ($114 million), IT independence and transformation ($84 million) and separation-related taxes ($52 million) 1. That is cash that left the company, not accounting noise. The full-year guide of $800–900 million therefore asks the fourth quarter to supply $193–293 million of adjusted free cash flow, against $607 million delivered in nine months 1.

The defense, and the receipt
There is a fair defense. December is the collection quarter: Q4 2025 operating cash flow was $491 million, the largest quarter of that year, on smaller revenue 7. The implied Q4 adjusted figure also sits below Q3's $320 million, so the guide is not a stretch on its own terms 1. Still, the beat and the raise are priced into the stock today; the collections are not. Guidance is a promise; the fourth-quarter cash flow statement, due early next year, is the receipt.
