SpaceX paid $60 billion for Cursor, now bundled at $30 a month that excludes Claude and GPT
SpaceX's new Super Intelligence segment out-earned Starlink in the same quarter the company folded its $60 billion code editor into an $8 to $200 consumer bundle that excludes the models most developers actually use.

The print that first contained Cursor
SpaceX's−5.33% — SpaceX, down 5.33 percent today third-quarter report on October 20 was the first disclosure to carry Cursor as a number, and it still did not show Cursor$30B — Cursor, private, latest valuation $30B alone 1. The Super Intelligence segment, the 10-Q's description of which covers Grok, AI solutions for consumers and enterprise, X and AI compute, earned $7.56 billion, 51.9% of everything SpaceX sold, up from $813 million a year earlier and past Starlink's $5.25 billion 1. The stock closed 7.8% higher the next day 1.
But the segment is mostly compute: SI spent $16.4 billion of the company's $19.6 billion capital bill, 2.2 times its own revenue, and its operating margin was 5.7% against Connectivity's 45.1% 1. Cursor's line sits inside that, unbroken out.
A $60 billion asset, repriced at $30 a seat
Eight days before the print, on October 12, SpaceX folded Cursor into The X Subscription alongside Grok and X Premium: Plus $8, Premium $30, Super $100, Ultra $200 a month, Teams from $30 a user, with the old $20 and $60 plans closed to new signups 45. xAI$200B — xAI, private, latest valuation $200B says Premium packages SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+, which it puts at $90 a month combined, for $30 4. SpaceX paid $60 billion for Cursor in August 15; the seat now clears at a two-thirds discount to the components' stated list.
xAI prices its Premium bundle at $30, a third of the $90 list of what it packages

The model you want is not in the plan
Cursor's help page is blunt: third-party models like Claude or GPT are in no plan, and on Premium and above they bill at API list price from the first request, out of prepaid credit 4. At Anthropic's$350B — Anthropic, private, latest valuation $350B list rates, Sonnet 5.5 at $2 and $10 per million tokens, a heavy agent month can out-bill the seat itself 4.
Enterprise controls are thin in the bundle: BYOK starts at Premium and covers neither Tab, Auto, cloud agents, background agents, the CLI nor the API 7, and most enterprise accounts cannot switch yet 4. On r/CursorAI, users report the new plans cost more and carry fewer models 8.
Whose money is on the line
SpaceX's investors fund the build-out: $19.6 billion of quarterly capex, Q1 2027 revenue guidance of $33 to $37 billion 2, against nine-month free cash flow of roughly negative $35 billion by TECHi's count 1. Musk says the constraint is power and cooling, not chips 3.
Cursor's own revenue is not in that guidance and is not in the deck either. The bundle converts an application-layer acquisition into a consumer subscription, and the seat price now belongs to xAI's pricing page. Anyone marking application-layer startups on seat economics should mark Cursor at $30, with the model included only if it is Grok's.
