Vishay hit record $978.9 million revenue, but its own 10-Q says Q4 free cash flow turns negative
Vishay Intertechnology printed record revenue of $978.9 million and the stock jumped 12%. The same-day 10-Q then disclosed a plan to shrink its receivables sales program, which will turn fourth-quarter free cash flow negative.

A record beat, and a warning in the same filing
Vishay Intertechnology+6.99% — Vishay Intertechnology, up 6.99 percent as of its last quote, the Malvern, Pennsylvania maker of discrete semiconductors and passive components, posted record third-quarter revenue of $978.9 million on November 4, up 23.8% year over year, and swung to net income of $59.0 million from a $7.9 million loss a year ago 1. The shares surged 12% on the beat 2.
The quarterly 10-Q the company filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission that same day went further than the wires: it plans to "significantly reduce" its accounts receivable securitization program in the fourth quarter, "which will result in negative free cash flow in the quarter" 1.
Securitization sells unpaid customer invoices to banks for cash up front. The filing notes the proceeds are booked as operating cash flow, so the program feeds the free cash figure investors quote 1.
The cash spike leaned on a program that doubled in nine months
The program's balance reached $134.3 million on October 3 against $62.2 million at the end of 2025 1. Third-quarter free cash flow was $98.5 million 19, and the filing credits nine-month free cash in part to "additional net cash inflows" from the program 1. Days sales outstanding fell to 35 from 53 a year ago, a number the program itself flatters 3.
Chief Financial Officer Dave McConnell put the plan plainly on the earnings call: "we did guide approximately zero for the year on free cash because we're going to repay our securitization, which helped us get through some of the leaner quarters" 4. Nine-month free cash of $61.9 million, against negative $142.7 million a year earlier and a break-even full-year guide, implies a Q4 outflow of roughly $62 million 134.

Management's exhibit: the demand is structural
Chief Executive Joel Smejkal told the call that customers in all regions say Vishay is "not on their list as a risk supplier in this cycle"; in past upcycles it was first on such lists 4. One sales leader visiting a customer in Asia was asked why he had bothered to come, since Vishay was not on that customer's risk list 4.
Consumption of Vishay units through distributors rose 57% year over year, backlog reached $2.2 billion at a 1.29 book-to-bill, orders running 29% ahead of shipments, and Q4 revenue is guided to $990 million plus or minus $15 million at 26.0% gross margin 45. Smejkal called a majority of the growth structural, the work of the Vishay 3.0 operating overhaul, with AI revenue pushing toward $200 million this year from about $100 million in 2025 (company-claimed, unaudited) 46. Management also expects automotive revenue flat next quarter 6.

The bear case sits in the company's own filing
The same 10-Q cuts 2026 capital spending to $350 million to $400 million, from $400 million to $440 million planned a quarter earlier, because equipment for the 12-inch wafer fab in Itzehoe, Germany is landing late 13. It warns there is "no assurance" cash generation holds at historical levels if the economy worsens 1. The next day, Needham lowered its Vishay price target on valuation 7.
The defense: the unwind is a cleanup, not distress. The July offering of 17.25 million shares at $50.00 netted $830.25 million, cash stood at $1.14 billion on October 3, and the revolving credit line is paid to zero 1; the company expects "increasingly higher levels of free cash" once the spending peak passes 1.
The price and the calendar set the verdict
Institutional buyers paid $50.00 a share in July 1. The stock changed hands at $25.84 this week, down 5.07% over five days, about half the offering price, against an average analyst target of $40.50 from seven analysts, 57% above the market 5. At October 3 the stock stood so far below the $30.16 conversion price of its 2030 convertible notes that the notes were no longer convertible, the filing states 1. Revenue has grown six straight quarters 8; a typical chip upcycle runs eight to ten 9.
The re-rating holds if Q4 revenue lands near $990 million and the negative cash print proves to be timing; it breaks if the securitization was papering over lean quarters, which the CFO's own words allow 4. Watch the dated checkpoints: the Raymond James−2.29% — Raymond James, down 2.29 percent as of its last quote conference on December 8, 2026, a hoped-for back-end announcement by year-end, and the fourth-quarter call on February 27, 2027 4. The full receipts sit in the filing linked below. The number that decides this re-rating is Q4 free cash flow, and whether backlog keeps growing without the rented cash 4.
