Exchange and index operator

Nasdaq operates the Nasdaq-100 index, the benchmark behind more than 200 tracking products holding over $800 billion, including the $482 billion Invesco QQQ Trust. Effective 1 May 2026 it rewrote its fast-entry rule so a newcomer ranked in the top 40 by market value can join the index after 15 trading days, with no three-month wait and no 10% float floor, the change that put SpaceX in the index 15 days after its IPO. Its index chief Emily Spurling defends the rule, arguing companies now list at larger scale with institutional owners already in place.
