AI demand is pushing Exelon back into the generation business it spun off

Illinois regulators have approved ComEd's underground GRIT transmission ring, built because large unnamed customers arrived near O'Hare, one day after Exelon's transmission chief said utilities should be allowed to own power plants again. The AI buildout has moved into utility rate base, and regulators and ratepayers now decide who pays for it.

Bloom Energy sold a record $1.24 billion of fuel cells and still used cash doing it

Bloom Energy beat every estimate and raised guidance a third time, yet the stock fell 8.7 percent on the one line the release could not flatter: operations used cash in the biggest quarter the company has ever booked.

Fort Bend County voted 4-0 to offer Tesla tax breaks running past 35 years to stay in the running for a $10 billion solar plant Tesla has not yet sited, a day after Tesla cut its 2026 capex target to about $20 billion. Duke Energy's North Carolina rate ask is cut in half; a $42 monthly credit for 80,000 homes ends Dec. 31

Duke halved its North Carolina rate ask to staged increases of about 9.5% and 6.8% from January, while the $42-a-month credit for 80,000 low-income households dies on Dec. 31 without a commission decision. The commission is now the only lever left, and the data-center demand behind the ask keeps growing.
