Arrow Electronics' $1.02 billion cash flow was settlement timing; enterprise computing lost $48.3 million

Arrow's first-half operating cash flow of $1,018 million came from settlement timing, not earnings, while its enterprise computing segment booked $48.3 million of losses on contracts locked in to 2032. The November 5 report has to show both numbers moving the other way.

Arrow sits between suppliers and factories in the component trade, and its first-half cash flow moved with the timing of that trade.

Arrow Electronics+0.76% — Arrow Electronics, up 0.76 percent today reported $1,018 million of operating cash flow in the first half of 2026, seven times the $146 million of a year earlier, and the company's own filing says where it came from: the timing of settlements inside its Global Components supply chain services business 2. That is working capital moving, not profit arriving. The number has quietly supported the case for a distributor that has nearly doubled this year, and it gets its next reading on November 5, when third-quarter results land. 2

The cash that paid down the debt was mostly not earnings

The filing shows the money went to the balance sheet, not shareholders. Arrow used just $67.8 million of buybacks in six months, $25.0 million under the January 2023 program and $42.8 million under the new $1.0 billion authorization effective May 12, 2026, leaving $956.9 million available 2. Net financing outflow was $981 million, and long-term debt fell from $3,085 million at the end of 2025 to $2,053 million. 2

The segment investors pay for is bleeding on fixed contracts

Global ECS, the enterprise computing arm, took $48.3 million of gross profit losses in six months, $26.6 million of them in the second quarter, from non-cancellable multi-year purchase obligations running to 2032 2. Gross margin slipped to 10.2 percent from 11.2 percent, one contract was terminated effective in the first quarter of 2027, and Arrow says more losses could follow. 2

Meanwhile the growth engine is real: second-quarter sales of $9,992 million, up 31.8 percent, with Global Components up 39.4 percent on AI-related demand, and interim CEO Bill Austin reporting book-to-bill above parity with backlog building into 2027. 2

November 5 prices the difference

The market is already on edge: on October 30, CDW fell 11.8 percent on no company news while Arrow dropped 5.7 percent alongside its IT-distribution peers. 4 The print decides which camp is right. Watch three numbers together: operating cash flow, inventory, and ECS gross margin. 2

    ASUS's 150% server growth just ran into a 32-server export-control problem

Chinese financing records name 32 ASUS servers fitted with Nvidia's restricted B300 chips inside a state-backed leasing deal covering more than 700 servers. Nvidia is investigating, and the finding lands just as ASUS moves PC production back into China and bets its year on server growth.

Tokyo sold SCREEN's second half before it ships

The wafer-cleaning toolmaker posted a 35% revenue quarter and record orders, then took the Nikkei 225's worst fall of the day. The gap between the demand it can see and the profit it has booked is the entire trade.

Sandisk's record quarter crashed anyway: the flash pricing engine that drove it just stalled

Sandisk beat its own guidance and still lost 18% in two sessions. Kioxia's flat December guide and Morgan Stanley's through-cycle model mark the turn: the flash price surge did the work last quarter, and it is stopping.

Tokyo Electron forecast operating profit up 87.1% on AI-driven demand for chipmaking tools, and an Intel-led rout still knocked Lam Research down 6%. Lam's capped December guide implies 61% growth, and its January report decides which reading of the parts shortage holds.

Tower Semiconductor printed record Q3 results and guided a $2.4 billion annualized run rate, with silicon photonics customers prepaying cash for capacity through 2029. Lumentum's blowout already confirmed the foundry's version; Coherent's November 4 report is the last outside test.
