Celestica's $128 million of free cash flow was near negative $570 million after backing out invoice sales
The 10-Q shows $700.8 million of sold receivables counted inside operating cash flow; back them out and Q3 free cash flow was roughly negative $570 million, not $128 million. The $21 billion 2026 and $40 billion 2027 revenue guides rest on rented cash.

Celestica+3.47% — Celestica, up 3.47 percent today reported the best quarter in its history as an AI hardware builder, and the least convincing cash flow statement of its boom. Revenue hit $5.83 billion, up 83% year over year and above the top of the $5.25–5.55 billion guidance range, per the 10-Q, its quarterly filing with the SEC, filed October 26, 2026 1.
Compute & Storage revenue, the rack business serving hyperscale customers (the big cloud operators), grew 242% to $1.609 billion and now carries 28% of revenue, up from 15% 1. Management raised the 2026 revenue outlook to $21 billion and pointed to $40 billion in 2027. 1
The invoices paid for the quarter
The filing shows what funded the headline. Celestica lifted the limit on its receivables sales program to $1 billion and had $700.8 million of sold invoices outstanding at quarter end, against none a quarter earlier; the proceeds count inside operating cash flow 1. Back out those sales and drillr, the data service whose calculation this is, puts third-quarter free cash flow near negative $570 million, not the reported $128 million 1. The company did not disclose that figure. 1
Strip out the invoice sales and Q3 free cash flow flips to about negative $570 million

The full-year free cash flow target, cut from $600 million to $460 million as we reported on October 31, implies about $48 million in Q4, and the ramp is funded mainly by the August equity offering, the $3.391 billion share sale we covered on September 29 1. Inventory rose $1.108 billion in a single quarter to $4.510 billion. 1

Growth now costs cash by design
The mix shift explains why. Adjusted gross margin slipped to 11.2%, from 11.5% in Q2 and 11.7% a year earlier, because hyperscale compute carries lower margins than the switch business; management expects low-11% margins through 2027 1. Record adjusted operating margin of 8.5% came from spreading overhead, not pricing power 1. The margin recovery, on management's own framing, depends on 2027 volumes materializing; nothing in the Q3 filing shows it yet 1.

Insiders sold, the company buys back
On November 2 the stock fell 6.1% to $249.22, and GuruFocus, an analytics service, flags $254.1 million of insider selling over 12 months with no buying 2. Yet the company just won TSX approval to buy back up to 3.13 million shares starting November 3, funded from cash or credit. 3
The counterpoint: the receivables program shortens the cash cycle while customers scale, and 2027's $40 billion outlook implies margins recover through volume. Q4 results, expected in late January, test two numbers: whether free cash flow clears roughly $48 million without more invoice sales, and whether gross margin holds at 11.2%.
